should not be a problem. if u still shoot landscape and still life the 7D is still the camera to stay with

It is a problem... sometimes u don't have all the time in the world to shoot a landscape... or you thought u hit the right focus... but when u return home, the focus is soft... or the still life (buildings, groups shoots) are a little soft... I find that my 7D is misfocussing with the 17-35mm quite a bit... probably an issue with wide angle lenses but it takes too many focus confirmations for my liking to be sure that it's fixed focus accurately... my pet peeves are slow and inaccurate focus plus hunting... for goodness sake, 50mm @ f/5.6?!

sounds like a back-focusing issue, can't that be fixed at ssc?

Actually it isn't a back focus issue... it might actually be a AF issue (sensor)... but it's quite random... I used to have tack sharp shots when I first got the lens... but I fancy over time that the camera's AF is not up to standard as before... I'm waiting for the A900 to be launched before deciding on what to do... cos I need a camera and don't want to have nothing to shoot while the 7D is in ICU... anyway as we all know the hunting on the 7D is terrible and the accuracy of the AF is not up to scratch... so I have lived with it for quite a while now...
