Sony A55 .. Dpreview Gold award!!!!

just curious, for canon 1DMk4 and Nikon D3S, does their 10fps able to continuous AF? Or is the focus locked?

I am about to get the a550 when I see this new series....Now getting confuse over a55, a560 or a580. I am currently still holding on to the old humble KM5D. Though I have been using my Canon S90 more this past few months.

Looks like the A33/A55 with the NEX type battery is sitting in between the NEX and the DSLR Alphas.

NEX<->SLT<->DLSR

So having a bridging camera helps in getting market share on both the spectrum.
I personally find that the NEX series does great job both in still shots and also HD-videos.

Now that each of these, NEX,SLT and DLSR have about the "same features" then it will boost the sales of the Alpha mount lens across the board. Good for everyone.....

And one the NEX video cam is out into the market - this will certianly encourage new glass form other third party manufacturers.

Seem like a good spare body for me. Can use as a tele n video body. A-mount, nice.

Just thinking, could Sony have made the mirror flip up if we want to shoot at high ISO? 1/3 light loss sounds like a lot. Maybe make it user selectable whether the mirror will flip up.

how come ah.. i tot a55 and a33 supposedly be using the same stuff?

Nope, seems like the A55 is using a newer sensor, the A33 is using a NEX sensor.

A500.

Nex-5 plus RF lenses = shiok!

Hehe...yes my sentiments too...just to get affirmative from pros here...

Ideal is to have nex, a55 and upcoming a7xx to complete the aps-c series...

If the mirror does not flip up, you do get the added benefit of being able to see your subject while the exposure is being made- this is great for people shots ("Did you blink?" situations) and action and panning shots.
I think this advantage is more impt to me than the 1/3 stop loss. But of course some people will find this to be a deal breaker.
Also, you will need to take extra care of the mirror as any damage/ dirt on it will show up in the picture.
