if u're buying a top notch body like the D700, please pair it with a good lens. Unfortunately, good lenses are heavy to lug around. There's a reason why the "kit"lenses are so cheap, cos no way they can compare with the 24-70 2.8. I'm currently using a D80 and i pair it with the 24-70 2.8. No regrets at all cos the IQ is superb.
I need some advice. I am a canon user and my first and only canon dslr is a canon. I have spent some time improving my skills and growing my hobby and now feel that it is time for me to get a FF. Only problem is that I don't really like the canon 5dmkII and the original 5d lacks some of the features that I feel are useful (eg autoiso) which brings me to the d700. The d700 features are everything I want like fast and intelligent AF, high ISO performance and 12mp (for me 21mp is a con more than a pro). I am on the verge of jumping to nikon but am worried about the lenses that I can use. Ideally I would want to get the body first and a good walkabout lens. I haven't paid alot of attention to nikon lenses so I need some help. Canon has a 24-105 f4L which I feel is an ideal range on a FF and it is also very sharp. Is there an equivalent lens from nikon or any of the 3rd party lens makers. I don't really want a 24-70 as it is just too heavy for me to bring every where with me.
