Sony A33

Nope ! ...fits/feel the same as my A500 ...and Minolta9000 before that.

maybe your A200's mount abit worn out so you're not used to a 'tight' fit ! :bsmilie:

ya, cld be...my A200 was too smooth is fitting lens w/o tt "tight" fit u mention.... nw my A33 must twist left n right slightly to make the lens' mount completely "sunk' into the cam's mount b4 I can turn e lens to lock it.

After I downloaded vids from A55 to computer by simply right click 'moving' it, the files no longer exist in the camera but the camera thinks it's still there and shows "Unable to Play"

...just simply delete it and it doesn't shows anymore.

I think have to use the software provided, Sony's PMB to move files around properly.

ooo..thanks for the tip. :)

Anyone encountered any "Unable to display" message when viewing pictures? recently browsed through my pictures on the camera and found one.

Did you use a computer to view the pictures and maybe did a rotate? It will caused the picture to be unviewable in the camera.

haha...i forgot...it could be possible though..

Just went to Funan to check out prices...
A33 with kit lens is below 1k.
Its so tempting...

Feel like getting the body only and pair it with the new 35mmF1.7 lens...
What do you all think of this combo? good?

This combo is excellent!!!

My A55 is always with the 35/1.8 whenever i am at home, taking pictures and videos of my kids has never been so easy and good IQ.

I used to do it with my A700 and A550 with sigma30 but it was quite heavy and no video.

This new partnership is light, small, responsive, fast af and with really nice bokeh and colours to boot.

Btw, at F2, it is already very sharp. I can practically see all the eye lashes of my sons clearly when view at 100%.

does a33/a55 have focus confirmation on the evf that will show where the cam focus in the scene?

Whatever you can see on the LCD is whatever you can see on the EVF.

1st time I have experience EVF and it blows me! the way Sony implement it is excellent! I am addicted to it I only use the LCD for viewing the photos or doing a quick menu setting while walking so i wont get hit by a car hehehe.

Yes, and the same 15 AF points will show where focus is during video recording too.

...Too COOL !

hmmmm,....... I think NEX high iso1600 is better?
THanks very much for sharing this ....

You're right ! ...the Nex seems to have better high ISO performance.

The A55 on the other hand has a totally different sensor and ISO3200 looks better than both at ISO1600

50mm F1.8 1/8s ISO 3200

This pic seems abit soft... its shot thru a glass right?

No PP, straight Jpeg from camera ...Standard mode with +1 Sat and +2 Sharp

Yes, there is thick glass inside the Night birds enclosure, the place is very dark and there are wardens who issues warnings and makes sure nobody does flash photography.
The softness could also have been due to my handheld shooting, its so dark, I couldn't even see if my hands were steady anot. A tripod would definately help here (If you're not worried about pple tripping over it !)

And that was one of the brighter enclosures, most of the others are darker and I had to raise ISO to 12800 ...but still got reasonable photos.:)

The amazing thing is that with the A55, I could compose and AF reasonably quickly and easily whereas almost everyone else around me were struggling, most gave up halfway thru. :bsmilie:

bro, not only we have the same cameras, we also shoot using the same colour profile!!!

Standard with +1 sat +2 sharpness seems to be a good profile that gives the best skin tone.

We must be ESP twins then ! :bsmilie: ...tried 300+ test shots on my dotters with Std, Vivid and Portraiture modes before settling on that profile.
