Singapore population to hit 6.9million by 2030

Economic Society of Singapore (ESS) Vice-President Yeoh Lam Keong; "population growth always tends to exceed projected forecast”.

... Urban Redevelopment Authority’s Concept Plan in 1991 projected a population of four million to be reached after 2010. By 2000, however, the Republic’s total population had already crossed that mark. In 2001, the population was estimated to hit 5.5 million in the long term. When it reached 4.6 million in 2007, the projection for planning purposes was adjusted to 6.5 million...
Sorry guys. Please don't hold your breath for anything less than 7 million.

Do mentally prepare for even more. How much more? No one knows for sure, do remember someone just said he do not have 20/20 foresight.

Bro, in case you are not aware, there is a $2k bounty offered for capturing the serial cat killer still at large..
If you want to help with investigations , I could still share the reward with you after your release .....:bsmilie:

Serial cat killer??? I was only keen on breeding pussy..... lol.... :sticktong

No need to over react.
It will be implemented after perfunctory debate - which is the same policy making approach regardless of whether in USA, Japan, Syria, PRC, UK, North Korea, South Korea, France, Malaysia or Singapore.

Policies are dynamic and do change over time.
After a while, there may be another white paper to control and drastically reduce the population size in Singapore, when the leader feels there is a need to do so. One can always find good reasons why. Again, it will be implemented after the usual debate.

There is proof that profound change in policy is possible. Some time ago this was all the rage:

I do not know how many is coming.... and they are attempting to back track their statement..... but after seeing them repeating their same trick over and over and over... they are worse than 1 trick pony......

There's only one solution... since they like FT so much, maybe we can consider hiring the Clinton's to replace them... International standing and reputation.... so should be more worthwhile of the millions..... ;)

I can empathize with those tasked implementing these tasks. It is easy to be 'armchair director' pointing fingers when things don't work well than actually responsible for the implementation.

They are actually trying to cope with the instructions without rooms to think. So, it is not HDB fault when they increase their price or build less to boost profit. They are merely following directives.

Ultimately, the key is policies are not debated openly. When you have a situation where an authoritative leader pushing his way and the rest just tag along, anyone that speaks differently gets chop off, you get the ****.

I am sure many of us have witness such situation in your work place. Nobody is willing to be the 'hero'. Policies are not evaluated in a balanced way. As long as the strong group feels it is right, it is supported all the way. No matter how good a policy is, there will always be the negative side of it. So next time when you chair any agenda, ask for the negative impacts first. If none, don't even bother to consider it because it is not a thoroughly thought through proposal.

What I am trying to say here is, most times, the leaders may have good intention with the plans but they also need good feedback. If their team is not given enough flexibility to debate, then ideas are pushed through without a balance view being considers. Not sure what got to do with GE?

While the 'mistakes on 20/20' cannot be reversed, did anyone ever raise it before or suddenly this was maxed known?

No government in the world can run a country with no mistakes. The ruling party has done a great job and we all hope they will improve and be better. When we choose to take on a task, we have to accept the pressure that comes along with it since we have been compensated.

Unless opened by temasek or Singapore technologies or ntuc

I think there's no debate... seems like all are just following orders....

The only intention they have is to form the government till eternity so that they can serve you forever. They just want to be humble servants to the people of Singapore.... Why then is it so hard to fulfil their wish?:dunno:
