Singapore population to hit 6.9million by 2030

actually if aging population is a issue and getting young ppl into the country is a solution. this will also boost up the economy as FT need to spend, travel, work, rent / buy house.. in other words it moves the economy otherwise filled with useless old man and women. is it a smart move? or is there hidden agenda?

problem with the problem is there is no baseline on how to define population in a country. human being per square meter? those rich ppl can buy a big house in Thomson and after work they can go back to their cave.

my friend already complain now can't find a good spot to fish. come 2030, fishing as a hobby would be a luxury.. and golf would be a premium

isn't he the chap who got a change of heart for something like $5? Cheep cheep ......... :bsmilie:

I read somewhere that the reason KBW was charged only $8 was that the surgeon opened KBW's chest and found that he does not have a heart !:bsmilie:

I can see COE will be implemented for fishing spots.

The only intention they have is to form the government till eternity so that they can serve you. They just want to be servants of the people of Singapore.... Why then is it so hard to fulfil their wish?:dunno:

At the end of the day, it is all about money. There is no end to our misery, as long as there is no separation of State from Business. Every waking moment of the day, the government simply is thinking of how to get more money for itself. It jolly well knows the people that increasingly becoming intolerant of this atrocious behavior and one day it will get booted out via the vote.

That said, it becomes desperately urgent now to "make as much hay as possible while the sun is shining in their favor", and also to lay the ground work to preserve its stranglehold. Hence the quickening pace of minting new citizens.

My sentiments exactly ....... so, there is an hidden agenda after all ....... The changing phase of democracy in Singapore .

I think there's no debate... seems like all are just following orders....

It is usually the case where the originator is too defensive. You won't have suggest something if you think it won't work. When others offer a different views, you felt offended and challenged. There is also the tendency of loosing pride.

Asian need to learn more from ANG moh in this area. Very often, things are pushed through just to state a point with real meaning.

Debate is good and healthy even at home. It shows we are a matured society.

well said!! it should not be able one's pride, but rather the welfare of the society..

somehow i feel democracy seems to work better in non-asia countries.. just my biased opinion..

but at the same time, democracy may not be good, this statement i agreed with lky.. there are cases of good emporers in china, the country prospered.

Asian hv their pride and think losing is a loss of face, get personal and lose the objective...... ang mo hv more liberal view and accept others opinion and do not feel like asian... and they can vote to their own view and not worried about party whip

The Sardine in Deep **** is great

Well end of the day, the citizen get sh*t and they get to keep the profit. So f**k It with all those bullshit.

Hahahaha, funny ... now every morning kena wait long long & squeezed tight tight just to board the mrt to work, once we branded Ayam brand sardines, we are finished! Maybe the ministers should get down from the ivory towers & take the public transport to get a real feel before they make plans like these. Already confessed to lack of foresight & mistake made, now want to go blind & plunge headlong to make bigger mistake :(

The Sardine in Deep **** is great

This makes more sense. And focusing on GDP alone thru influx of migrants is like concentrating on increasing asset size rather than productivity & profitability. We are moving sideways instead of up, & we are growing big & fat instead of lean & strong. And what about the negative impact of outflow of $$$ that's remitted out by all the foreign labour, there seems to be no mention of this anywhere I see.

Finally something that makes sense to me...

Delay population growth for 5 years: MP

"Don't talk so big and so much... fix the current problems then we see how. 2030 or 2035 - no big diff, we can wait."

Truthfully, I have the least interest to know what will happen in 2030. What I'm more interested in is what measures will be in place to relieve the situation now.

Are there alternatives to dynamic economy other than increasing population? We have opened casinos, maxed out housing and car prices, proved all forms of tourism revenues, etc. Where can we squeeze money from in the next 20 years.

This is all well and good but how many policies do we see changed due to feedback? As far as many can see if they put on paper it will happen regardless of feedback.

This is an easy way out. There is no basis here. During thr early 70s they focus on education then 80s on skill. 90s on industry. Basically. Singaporean not well versed in engineering arts science at all. Everybody want quick result. Now they want instant results. Bring in ppl brings instant benefit to the economy with least capital. The early education focus on industry that once the industrial I'd gone the ppl trained really render useless. Hope to see local build up strong foundation and establish our own quality

Thanks for the clarification, much appreciated. :D

Was just thinking of PHP scripts that automatically trigger a red flag for immediate review when certain keywords are detected when a thread or posting is created through the MySQL database server. Responses can be automated to suit the appropriate actions required. Principle of operation is almost similar to PROJECT ECHELON and what happened in Room 641A on a much smaller scale.

There is no such scripts here in clubsnap except the standard bad language filters.
