Sigma 150-500mm in action

Today went to Lords, quote $1,600.00

read much about this lens.. already feeling the itch of getting one.. Yesterday was walking around and pop by a camera shop .. and the saleman quoted me $1890 with out GST .. totally no less no nothing..

tested the lens though .. Its impressive.... will get one soon.. just need to hunt around for a good price to buy ...

never take note of the shop name.. at Peninsula It's opposite CP...quoted me 1550 w/o GST .. i still this its reasonable than the opposite shop offering me at 1790 w/o gst ..

Today went to Sungei Buloh for a test run..
Comparing to the 70 - 300 Vr, 200 - 400 Vr i give this Sigma a thumbs up...
- Weight is reasonable.
- Optical Stability is comparable to VR..
- Clearity is crispy sharp..
- Auto Focusing is very fast on day light of course. ( better than i expected )
- Lens zoom function easily and smoothly ...
- Finally, Im happy with the lens... Its a desire to have one.

the focusing speed is still all right, its NOT very fast. Not too fast, not too slow. moderate.

but sharpness is great even at jpeg.

you have to be careful of the skin even though ugaffered it, esp at the part of the skin where it becoms exposed when zoomed to 500mm.

It is a great value for money to reach 500mm. if you do not want to buy a new 1.

1 thing it lacks, limit.

Yes.. i would recommend it.. Focussing is fast... pictures are sharp .

Hi bros,

I'm looking also at the 150-500mm. bbb. But doing some research on international prices on this model, it seems that the fair value in SGD terms should be about $1300+, as in what Hong kong is selling. Is it that Spore retailers charging an extra $300-400 premium bcos it is relatively new model? Or any other bros have any idea?

Other bros who also interested in 150-500mm dun mind share which shops selling good price?
I just went Sim Lim and Edison and Alan foto quoted about $1600 and $1550 respectively (dunno include gst or not). anyway those salespeople in both shops also not interested to serve anyone. attitude like 'ai lai mai suak' like dat...

btw, side track a bit, anyone interested in getting photoshop CS4 can get it for only $99!!

Not sure whether this problem only occurred to me, but when I added a Kenko 1.4TC, I lost the auto-focus ability, and have to switch to manual focus.
