Sigma 150-500mm in action

I do not have a 80-400mm VR to compare, but as for sharpness.. below is an untouched photo at 500mm, ISO200, 1/800s, f6.3. Is this sharp enough for you? :-)

Cool picture.

Thanks. I also realised if I shoot with Fill-In Flash like SB800, the photo will be much sharper. Learning to make up for the limitation along the way. :embrass:

Hi I am interested in this lens. What price and where did u buy it?

Hey all, I have the 'smaller brother' to this lens, the 120-400mm OS. :)

Seems like the OS function of these Sigma lenses are not as straightforward to use as Nikon's VR or Canon's IS. It takes awhile for the OS motor to 'stabilize'. When taking fast movers like planes or birds this delay is quite important.

Anybody have tips to share how to best shoot with these lenses, especially at the max tele zoom?
Anyway, here are some of my shots taken with the 120-400mm.

Hi super lens ppl - can anyone advice on pentax mount?

cheers

Need some advise, which one will you choose between this lens, sigma 150-500 mm or Nikon AFS 300 F.4 ? and why ? To those who have the two lens, is the optical performance only marginal or wide apart ? Planning to get one tele lens soon. Thanks in advance for those who will enlighten me !

go for 150-500 if you want flexibility and can't move around much at your shooting site :)

For me I'll go for range then the F4 offer by nikon 300 ;p

The pix for sigma is rather sharp, IMO. Have yet to see the 300F4 though. But getting the len you might need to consider the purpose and budget.

Birding wise, F4 + 2x TC is F8. But for the sigma lens, adding a 2x TC, the image is very soft. Likewise for 1.4x TC from what I understand.

I have tried Nikon 200-400 and 600, the focusing is really fast. Faster than the sigma len

Why you did not consider the 300mm F2.8?

If budget is a concern, get the sigma which is what I did and if you are really keen, then you can explore the prime lens.

Bigma owner! anyone try with 1.4x TC ? at 500mm with it - isit soft as bro kool81 info:)

thinking of getting this telezoom lens - very affordable n especially with the 1.4x TC addition  but im still searching reviews between 50-500 n 1.4x TC - anyone out there got info to share:) yeah and like bros here probably get it at tin cheung unless if u Bigma owners wanna let go

:)

Hmm, should I sell my 50-500mm to get the 150-500mm...
I like it cos it cover 50-150mm if action come near me.. unless I got a 2nd body..

Anybody can advise how the HSM AF speed of 150-500mm compared with 50-500mm?

i have used the 50 -500 on the canon 400d, i observed that the focusing speed goes much slower at the 470-500mm range. At 50mm it is all right, i am not sure if it is like that for all the lens.

I am not sure if 150-500 is faster than the 50-500 and still not sure which 1 produces sharper results. Looking from youtube, the speed of the lens, not that amazning , i have to try to test it out by myself, nothing beats that.

Cant seem to find that video now

Make me very itchy........maciam kana BBB virus!!!:sweatsm::sweatsm::sweatsm:

on bright sunny days, excellant lens to use, rather nice bokeh too. Once it gets cloudy or darker during dwan or dusk, it hunts quite a bit, but the manual focus over-ride is great.

i've been eyeing this lens for quite sometime, and this thread is really starting to make my finger's itch, plus it'll fit nicely together with my 18-50 and 50-150. maybe i'll end up with this instead of the 120-400! :gbounce:

How much do you think a 1-2 months old Sigma 150-500mm worth if it was bought from Hong Kong?
BTW does Sigma have international warranty assuming the set is purchased from HK?
Thanks.

Hello guys, I just got this Sigma 150-500mm (Nikon Mount) sitting infront of me.
Bought it from Tin Cheung (HK) at $1301 include shipment (FedEx 1-3 days service).

Ordered lens on 6th July and arrived today on 8th at 930am.

Surprisingly no GST (may be becoz I indicated as GIFT)

I safe $350 as Singapore will cost $1650.

:D:thumbsup:

Hi
any warranty for this item( international ?)

Not that I know of. Best is to drop Sigma a call to double confirm.
