Sigma 150-500mm in action

This is one of the most impressive threads. Image quality is stellar. Where did you guys "ambush" these birds for shooting? I want to try shooting birds with my Nikkor 55-200mm VR lens before commiting to this lens. Catch the bird before you buy the lens.

I don't think you'll be able to get similar images with so much lesser reach.

anyone know the current price for this lens in SG and HK?

Here are 3 samples taken using the Sigma 150-500 OS. Nikon. IMHO, this is one lens worth every penny and more if you handle it well. :)

Fwah! Nice .... which Nikon body u using? :)

Has anyone use this lens for last year's F1 or at low light conditions? Comments please.

i haven't got any telephoto lenses at the moment.

i owned a 75-300 for a while. during my ownership of the 75-300, i only tried using for street candids & shooting my pet birds (they are quite camera-shy and even with their familarity towards me, i had to shoot using the 100-300 range working from about 3-5m away from them). i found the 200-300 range to be quite useful for street candids as well. due to the lack of IS and it tends to hunt a lot under low light, i sold it shortly.

i find myself missing on a lot of photographic opportunities. i'm wondering if a 150-500 gonna be overkill? i'm guessing the lens would be used mostly for street candids, outdoor events/concerts & also sporting events (eg. soccer, F1 etc). it will probably see the occasional use for shooting wildlife. for my budget, i could also get a 70-300, with cash to spare. for what i do, will i miss the 300-500 range?

Base on your description of your needs, don't think you will miss much on the 300-500mm ranges. 400-500mm ranges are more for birds or wildlife in their natural environment which will require this extra reach. Furthermore, this len will definitely be a little too heavy for you to carry and walkaround for streets candid. :)

Were this taken wide open at 500mm?

Really nice shots mendis. You've made me think about buying the lens again. Last time, it was 100-400L, 150-500 or 70-200 2.8IS and I got the latter one. Now it's 100-400L, 300 or 400 prime or 150-500.. Argh.

Just got my unit this afternoon. Anyone knows where I can get a copy of the 86mm B+W MRC F-pro filter for this lens? It's gonna cost a bomb...

Just got this outside my office window earlier. A bird of a different kind.

Waaaa. I'm super envious here. I've always wanted a shot like that. I saw the Apache going into SG from Punggol side.
