Shanghai Trip

Hi
Has anybody tried buying 3 days ticket for Shanghai world expo from the authroized ticket agents?
Here is what I found from their website: http://en.expo2010.cn/a/20090327/000001.htm
Is it available for free & easy? I found the packaged tours only visited the place for 1 day. I want to spend more time there and "see the world" hehehe :D

I'm planning to go there for the expo too. Any info would be great. ;)

anybody give extra info will helping 2 people here :)

I'm also heading to Shanghai from the 7th to 12th May for work. Have bought the expo tickets from CTC for my family members who are joining me. Its cost SGD35 for a day ticket. and SGD 80 for a 3 day pass. On the ticket, there's a blue chop for priority access to the SG pavilion.

You can try visiting the CTC outlet at mosque street(where i got the expo tix from). Their staff will explain to you the details clearly.

At Pudong Intl airport, u can take the maglev to longyang road. Then change to the metro line 2 to head to your hotel.

PS: Info given by other bros here esp daredevil123 has been of great help.

I am getting into Shanghai tomorrow evening. Just got back for a week to recharge after a 3 weeks stay for Nepcon in ChaoBao road. Avoid the expo for first week. I was there during the opening trail, there were several cork ups but I won't blame them:

It will be super crowded. I heard the price for food is ridiculous, more than RMB200 each person. Be prepared and not loose temper.

When landed in Pudong, if you do not have local contacts for taxi, its best to take Maglev by walking to the middle 'walking lane' which is the structure between the two terminals. Meglav only has one end station. Metro Line 2 (ER XIAN) is super crowded, you need some coins to get tickets. Why not just take a Taxi to hotel. Be aware that the local taxi driver may take you go round and round when they know you are a first timer. Just insist in a receipt and tell him/her you want a receipt before hand. Not being nasty but to play safe.

If you need a taxi contact, PM me. The charge to SuZhou is about RMB230, there about for the Shanghai Jiang Xu area

Their train DONG CHE (second class ticket) is about RMB25-30 but you need to book in advance during this VERY TIGHT period.

Some guys already posted pictures:

要想好好看世博会,预备需要好几天的时间,而且还要考虑体力消耗,否则第一天逛过后第二会有疲劳过度的反应。以后就不会再想看了。

Have a good trip!!

p.s.

1. I brought a whole case of equipment, but ended up only with a D60 BG with the standard 18-55 kit lens. It will be a test of leg power moving around with our Chinese friends.

2. Security is very 'tight' and can be pretty frustrating. Even the metro they will want to check your bag etc. Bring your travel documents with you, as they will check your ID all the time.

I just came back from Shanghai last night, didn't go to the expo as time was short and I thought it would be pretty silly to join in the throngs. I did scout around the expo are on the pudong and puxi side but there is nothing much you can see outside.
I took the subways most of the time when I'm on my own and taxis when I was with my gf. I guess you need to know roughly how much you would have to pay to avoid getting ripped off, from long yang station to pudong near century avenue it costs only 20rmb. BTW, if you're taking the subs, be prepared to fight your way out. :)
Was quite an experience trying to get to Hangzhou, train tickets sold out and I had to get bus tickets. On the way back we only got standing tickets but luckily there were two empty seats and we managed to sit on our way back to Shanghai from Hangzhou. Travelling in China during holidays is not for the faint hearted. ;p
Thanks to all those who contributed to this thread, definitely helped me somewhat in my short trip last week.

Do let me know if any of you are out in Shanghai. I'll be here till at least the end of June.

Cheers

Will be in Shanghai on 6 July - 13 July.
