pls re-read Darren's reply in FAQ. i think Darren has put enuf hints in his reply without being blindingly obvious that we have been tossing ideas, based on CSers' feedback, around to reduce/eliminate the sleaze. it is easy to be a armchair critic.
without revealing wat goes on being the scenes in our discussions among the moderating/admin team, suffice to say that we (as in the team) face a 'damn if we do, damn if we don't' situation. damn if we clamp down becos armchair critics will slam us for being prudes. damn if we DON'T clamp down becos armchair critics will say 'i told u so'... which is exactly what is happening here.
this is a forum. there is only a limit wat we (mod/admin) can do. problem is some minority actions here in CS affects everyone, and gives ALL a bad name.
we are still discussing what is the best way to handle the situation becos, as Darren mentioned, artistic (provided if it IS artistic) photography is a legitimate avenue of photography. so rather than passing snide comments, why don't we help CS to come to a viable method to make sure that people who want to pursue artistic photography are NOT being penalised by the sleazebags?

I think what mattlock is saying that there is no indication from the admin that his suggestion is noticed. There may be things going on behind the scenes but this is unfortunately not apparent to the general forum. I understand that it is impossible for the admin/mods to reply to every suggestions but at least if someone voiced out his concern, the least is to acknowlege it like what you did to night86mare's comment.

Guys chill...:sweat: We are all looking for solution to resolve this as fast and I have to give credit to the mods and admins for doing what it takes to resolve this difficult and tough call.
The way I see it is that we are dealing with a volatile situation here given the bad press that is surrounding CS, whether it is in its entirety or even partially. No sense in playing the blame game here as it just does not do anyone any good. As it is, it is very difficult to read through so many suggestions, both good and bad to clean up the forum and present it in a positive light.
So let us just see how the situation plays out tomorrow with the potentially inflammable article in TNP.:sweat:

I really have to hand it to the New Papers ... With so much real news and events happening around our neighbours and around the world where Singaporeans have been involved in ... all they care or are bothered about are some stories from ClubSnap ...
I guess it is probably a compliment to CS that we are more important than world news to TNP ...

Sigh...here we go again.
Seems the only form of accountability there is right now is the way the editor posts the story. This time, the main article, while did not mention CS, one read and people will have an idea that CS was indeed involved. While model did say something in defense of some shooters, the thing is, that did not help much. Links to portfolios were mentioned, certain pictures that were posted were mentioned. Seems investigative journalism is very much well and alive in this context, though the way I understand it is that investigative journalism takes a hell lot longer than 1 to 2 weeks. So correct me if I am wrong in this, I stand to be corrected.
The model herself claims to be 15 last year and that she had requests through her blog. While nothing new, the problem for me here is that she was advertising herself as a freelance model. In that respect, she did not have an organiser or agent to go through. Nothing wrong, but if you market yourself as a freelance model, the precautions that you should take are much more than that of an organised shoot! In this case she was smart to look at shooters port and refuse shoots that falls out of line with what she was ready for. In this case I have to give her credit for not only being smart but professional enough to walk away despite have a carrot dangling in front of her.:thumbsup:
To all models, let me say this here: if your stand in the beginning is to refuse to do certain shoots, then please, IF YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN THAT KIND OF PROPOSAL TO DO SHOTS THAT ARE OUTSIDE OF WHAT YOU INTEND TO DO, WALK AWAY. Do not think that just because you accepted the cash, you have to do what the shooter says. Return the cash to him and walk. It is not about obligation, it is your ethic as a model to shoot what you are comfortable with. This is what professionalism is about. If you accept the proposal, then please, take the necessary steps to protect yourself!!! Your own reputation is at stake here! Organisers in this case, I believe they run a check on the models that they hire, so for organised shoots, I do not see the problem with that. Unless, the organiser himself is dubious....
Shooters, if you engage a freelance model, please check their age, IC, background etc. I mean no offense, but it has gotten to a point here that CS is fast becoming fodder for the press and authorities alike. CS is a sitting duck in this case. We cannot blame the Admins or mods for not taking action fast enough, because there is just too much going in this forum for them to do so.
At some point in time, this place will be overrun by "genuine" and pro-bono photogs as well as authorities. If we ever come to that stage...:dunno:

i wouldn't read too much into the articles from local media
just recently the newpaper did an article and seriously misquoted a girl, portraying her as a rich spoilt brat
i guess the actual interview and what was published was different, and the reporter had to make up a "story" to dramatise the whole situation
same goes for what i just read today in the papers
the more i read the more it sounds like bullshit
i seriously believe they added in more ingredients to make it much more worthy to read
oh well, tabloids...

Actually that one sad to say is a true situation. There were some words that went back and forth. The thread was subsequently cleaned up by the mods. What went on in there was there were some remarks that were very much uncalled for, let us just put it that way. As for the report on the paper, it may be skewed to fit the story they were trying to report. So it is anybody's guess, who knows at this point...:dunno:
Who knows that she may be laughing at us right now.
