Good. For every deal. I get a dollar. Very soon I can buy d Leica M n FLE from Click! Keke

Can come and try our Heliopan filters, they are really excellent and on par if not better then B+W

Lynn

Don't think the Heliopan filters are better than or even on par with B+W filters. Can refer to this website below:

UV filters test - Introduction - Lenstip.com

Just to quote the website:

"We were very disappointed with the Heliopan products. The German filters are not only very expensive, but they also presented very mediocre optical parameters."

Seems like the cheap Hoya flters are the best of the lot but easily scratched from what I read.

B+W still the best value.

B+W uses Schott glass n has better scratch resistant coatings. Dunno abt Hoya though.

I think it's only low in terms of cost to benefit ratio but I think it works good, I will try out both and see if I can put some pics! :)

Lynn

For some who is anal abt filter quality, will probably stick wif B+W. I've no qualms abt Hoya's filter quality though. Personal using d CPL from Hoya. Cheap and good. Technical reviews can provide some insights but most of d time not comprehensive. It's up to individual to see if the filter is good enuff for their usage.

Welcome!

I think that is why no local retailers bring in Heliopan all these years. The optical performance is not good compared to the cheaper brands.

I posted this review a few years back. Was what made me a fan of Hoya filter. Love the way the study was conducted using a scientific way I.e. using a UV spectrophotometer to measure the UV rays.

Not trying to diss Heliopan but think B+W and Hoya still are the safest and cheaper bets. Most pros I know swear by B+W filters.

That said though, I agree with Lynn that it has been a few years now. Hopefully Heliopan has improved on their products. Else for the same price, I would rather go with B+W.

With all filter brands there are different ranges. The top of the line Heliopan with 8 coats per side is one of the best. It is also one of the most expensive.

Interesting. It seems that the test used both the ordinary and 16 coated SH-PMC top of the range Heliopan filters for testing. The ordinary one came in 12/16 and the SH-PMC came in 7/16.

No special meaning just sharing what I understood in the review. Since the discussion was on Heliopan filters and the review was something I shared a few years back so just thought of sharing only. What meaning do you think I have?
