SEL 35mm f/1.8 OSS

Very nice photos albertri

Thanks bro :-)

Can you post some sample distortion you getting? I dont know if mine has as I have not tried testing at smaller aperture with more details including the corners will try some landscape to check it out :-)

wow that's weird looking distortion bro looks like it's stretched out. was this JPEG direct or RAW? normally RAW dont have the distortion or lens correction details specially using LR.

The distortion looks pronounced.

The distortion is so asymmetrical, looks like a bad lens. Time to go Sony for exchange?

Just got a copy from Click! Gonna try out tonight!

This looks like Perspective Distortion, nothing to do with the lens. You may want to Goggle this term.
To resolve this, hold the lens further away, use the Built-In level gauge so the lens faces the bottles flatly.

Here's my try seems ok with me.

Yeah this happens to UWA lenses also when you try not to shoot with the horizon level you will get distorted image, if you're shooting buildings (landscape), the buildings seems to be leaning at the sides and corners. same when you's using FE you can de-fish eye if you level your composition to your image horizon.

You are shooting too far.

2nd try I think the closest I could shoot with this lens as the wine name is started to get blurred

You need to shoot close up shots to the minimum focusing point to get this effect at the corner object.

Normal shots from 0.5m onwards will not have this. All straight lines are straight.

Probably someone could try to shoot with 50mm f1.8 and 24mm f1.8 to test.

You know albertri, the drinks that Ive shot are not the regular sized bottles, they are the miniature bottles that are the size of our fingers. Ive shot it close around 6-7 inches

Yeah those looks like airline wine bottles smallish. :-). I read there's some distortion but they said its very minimal and in real life usage is hardly noticeable.

Also these shots I've posted are jpeg ooc and the cam might apply the corrections as I turn them on as a default.

It is true that in real life, it is unnoticeable. This is not a macro lens and most people will be using this for portraits and general walk about shots. It will be perfectly fine without any signs of distortion.

Shooting at the minimal focus of 30cm for critical extreme corners all at 30cm focal length is highly unlikely. Most of the time it will be middle focus with corners with nice bokeh.

Hmm...doesn't seem to support PDAF.

Just wondering if anyone has attached a B+W XS-Pro filter to it and still manage to attach the lens hood also?
