great idea, will shoot still life macro. thanks
Not sure about the Pro 7 or the Acute 2 as I've not used them before but I've used the Bowen and it proved to be good.
Other than what you have pointed out, one of the main diff, at least to me, is the filter size. Pro series ringflash usually have a filter size above 77mm so there's no worries about vignetteing on my image.
Your last para mention:
get a larger light source before it starts to vignette
I assume that you're talking about light fall off? Yeah, agreed with that.
Err.. That is very chiam leh.. anyone can convert it to simple english???
Am very interested to understand what a ring flash can be used for.
just get this, won't go wrong
I think I posted this before

Done with a fluorescent ring tube. The obvious drawbacks are the low power you get and the greenish cast that can be quite hard to correct. Sigh, still saving up for my profoto ringflash
Looking for 1 also ..
can try out the sigma Ring flash.. other then that.. the cost will be the next hindering factor
equipment can also be bought for hobby what...Equipment is buy for work, for project. If the project cover the cost of the purchase, then what the heck are you talking about hindering factor?
The equipement can be bought anytime. So I dun understand why the cost would be hindering the purchase, unless you have no project or probably doing grunt jobs.
I duno.... just my 2 cents worth.
actually, for studio shoot, even not using ringflash, but normal studio strobes, subject is suppose to stand further from backdrop aint it?
that doesnt look like a ring flash to me?:dunno:
oh? izit?there's an option for the bulb and ring flash built-in to fire together.
oh? izit?
are you refering to the option of the bulb (modeling lamp) is on when the flash is trigger?
Ok,yes, you are right.....the flash is an option built-in already with optional cable to fire

Ok,
TS, jeanie is looking for a ring flash, a type of flash the is in circular shape and go round the lens of the camera when in use.
the flash you show here, is a studio flash with modeling lamp. not ring flash.
third, most studio flash with modeling lamps (any brands), have the option of the brightness control of the modeling lamps, on or off, on or off when the flash trigger (means the lamp is on when the flash is trigger, or the lamp go off when the flash is trigger, on again when the flash is charge)
