Thanks Olympus and the Clubsnap crew for organising the event.

I'm quite impressed with the macro abilities of this lens.

I wonder how close I can get to 1:1 with the 1.4 teleconverter and a close-up filter.

Nah.. a dedicated macro will always be better for macros. But for us non-dedicated macro shooters, this extra ability of the 40-150 makes it very versatile.
Like Overworked, I'm also keen to see the pricing.

This looks like yet another top notch lens from Olympus. Amazing..

I have been hoping for the 150 f2 to be remade for M4/3… But this new 40-150 f2.8 may just be what I end up buying for now… Looks like it will ba a great lens… Have to break down and buy an EM1 to go with it I guess.. LOL

I'm not a charts person but the MTF charts show the 40-150/2.8 to be an even better performer than the 150/2 ;)

Using the 40-150/2.8 on a EM10 is actually possible but u will definitely do better with his EM10 grip.

As mentioned by Swifty, a dedicated one would always be better, not to mention your magnification would be 1:1 with a dedicated, the 40-150 I think is still 1:2 at its best, but it is a good lens for closeup work if you don't do macro often or don't do macro at all. I'm using the Sigma 150mm for my Nikon system for macro, closeup and portraits hahaha

It was shown that the 40-150 beats the SHG lenses handsdown, and for the price that was told, I think it's cheap, considering all the SHG lenses are extremely pricey. This 40-150 and 12-40 has given me an idea of how the 7-14 would be like and I'm now tempted to switch back 100% to Olympus (cause I still use Olympus for relaxing days). But the camera body is still too small for me to use, maybe... Just maybe... I'll get a used E-M1 when E-M2 comes out (whenever that is haahhaa)

One has yet to see sharp if they haven't seen the images out of the Olympus M.Zuiko pro lenses, I've never believed in MTF charts partly cause I'm too lazy to read, but mainly because I prefer seeing actual samples

I could live with just M 4/3 now… (with the new 40-150 f2.8 plus 1.4 tx) but I might still keep an FF body (trusty 5D classic, or mabe a second hand Sony A7 LOL ) with couple MF lenses for those special "fun" occasions.:bsmilie:

Exact same thoughts but no $$$ for multiple system haha.. I think I jus want a large mp so I can get more details

Couple shots from last Saturday, all with the MC14 (teleconverter 1.4x) + 40-150 & EM1. What do you guys think? ooc jpegs

New way to shoot with Pen and this lens :)

A few more, all at 210mm (420mm max end of the MC14+40-150)

This one is at ISo1000, if lower ISO possibly can see the cigarettes box information.

How does this compare to the Panny's 35-100/2.8?

How does this compare to the Panny's 35-100/2.8?

Heavier, larger, longer reach, sharper (can compare to 75mm I feel), better built definitely (no rubber rings), has TC if need further reach. Plus has manual focus rings and L-fn button to set.
But if u use Pana body or wants something more portable, 35-100 is likely a better choice and for its OIS. Pana 35-100 still a lens with excellent IQ, fast AF too.

Sigh... the only thing to turn me off is the pricing.....if the pricing is reasonable, then pocket big hole liao.

If pricing reasonable, then pocket big hole liao? Makes no snese, does that mean if it's unreasonable, your pocket will have a smaller hole? Anyway, I think the pricing is very good, considering the quality and built of the lens
