<Preview> Olympus mZD 40-150mm F2.8

If pricing reasonable, then pocket big hole liao? Makes no snese, does that mean if it's unreasonable, your pocket will have a smaller hole? Anyway, I think the pricing is very good, considering the quality and built of the lens

if pricing unreasonable, he wont buy, so no hole

Focus on the lens , not on the hole ;)

I tried to stick my credit card into my computer screen but no lens coming out. Why? :(

Jokes aside I can't wait to get my hands on one.

The pricing is reasonable at USD 1499 but what is the pricing in Spore? IF SGD 2300, is that reasonable?

Convert USD/SGD 1.5333? That is what I mean by unreasonable. Will not speculate until actual price comes out. In this age, there are many options to buy and paying too high just for the warranty is not good for me.

I did hint to Oly whether will it be below $1600, answer is nope :)

That said , this lens is going to bring more people into MFT for sure.

:bheart::cry:

Ya, its the collection of quality lenses that is drawing people to MFT..... hmmm...... if the price is a "little" lower..... it will provide more pull factor....

Bro, hint to Oly again..... they sell the 40-150mm at S$1499...... their sales chart will hit the rooftop..... ;)

._____.

The M.Zuiko Pro lenses at least do live up to their name as Pro lenses :) so long as it's around $1800, I will seriously consider getting it.

Looking around at comparative prices from competitors , anything below $2000 is value for money for the quality this lens gives.

That said , it's best to wait for the pre-order promotions that will appear soon ;)

Agreed, I actually bothered to read the MTF charts, it beats the 150mm f2 lens which is a Super High Grade (SHG) lens, even without comparing the images on a screen side by side between my 70-200, I could already tell how sharp the lens was, even if it was 3k, I'd buy it. Afterall, this lens is aimed at professional photographers, it's not meant to be a budget lens. If it beats the 150mm f2, $2500 is actually cheap considering the price of the ZD 150mm f2 which costs $2999 list price, but Amazon price lists as $2299

Haaaa true bro.... still need to make $$$....else we wont see Oly few years down the road....

Yes of course adapters can be used. Have tried using the rokkor 58/1.2 and summilux 35mm on MFT before.

May I interest you in this clip: (21:30 onwards)

It seems like f2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range is PHYSICALLY impossible since aperture is calculated with the formula:

focal length/barrel (or front element?) diameter

focal length changes, but the diameter doesn't. How can aperture stay constant? The Pana 35-100 f2.8 is essentially (in 35mm format) 70-200mm f5.6. Don't know how true it is with this Oly lens..

Interesting video, if you're truly interested, take a watch and let me/us know what you think?

For me, instead of comparing it with the 35mm format, I just play with the lens physically, or at least look at picture samples first. If I like what I see, who cares if the equivalent format is so and so..?

Thanks bro... guess it won't be as "popular" since M43 got a whole range of lenses.... kekeke

assuming exchange rate is 1.3 = US$1,499 x 1.3 = S$1,950
add in GST @ 7% = S$1,950 x 1.07 = S$2,087
add in shipping cost and local shop rental = S$2,300

Please kindly correct me if I'm wrong. From my limited understanding, F stop refers to the diameter or opening of the entrance pupil of the lens. So to say, the diameter of f1.8 on m43 lens is the same as the diameter of f1.8 on FF lens. So essentially, both lens will allow the same amount of light to pass through.

However, if you are talking about equivalence of DOF.. Then like what you mentioned, dof at f2.8 on m43 is equivalent to f5.6 on FF due to the smaller sensor..
