<Preview> Olympus mZD 40-150mm F2.8

I'd rather sell the 42.5mm lol, not my type of lens, but I agree with Keithwee, consider if you really need it, then if you really need it, sell it later closer to the sale date

It won't be balanced on ep5, even on EM10 with grip becomes a strain after an hour use. EP5 has no grip so thats worse. U can probably find 3rd party grip but you would be stretching the limits.

wah like that got to get the GH series to balance the lens.... :dunno:

If you don't mind not having IS for this lens when using with the GH bodies...

Ya right, I suppose that's why you brought GH4 to test that day :)

Haaaa nope..... still feel too big.... kekeke...might go for EM10 or EM1.....but then again... who knows.... later go touch touch then tio poison.... kekeke

Yup, I will not have any doubts of it pairing with Olympus bodies since its their pro line but curious on performance for others.
The focus was great too even on the GH4.

HK RRP is HKD11990 or about SGD2000. In SG should be SGD2199.

Street price in SG maybe drop 5% after every 3 months until 80% or SGD1760 after 1 year.

Thank for sharing but I'm curious about the 5% drop every 3 months theory ;)

I tot u are supposed to hold the lens also? That applies even especially for DSLR when paired with 70-200 f2.8. So what balance are we talking about for a fast telezoom lens on a m4/3 body?

Otherwise just use a gh4 with 35-100 f2.8.

The balance when holding the body to shoot lor, hold the lens is to support the weight, but the right hand more or less to keep it stable, like prevent it from rolling in the left hand. I feel that without a grip, still can, even on E-P5, just that it'll be harder, more tiring and unbalanced

After all, the old OM film cameras were gripless unless using a motor drive

No lah, it is just a gauge how much it will be around according to some self determined variables which can vary depending on the marketing of Olympus. No one will be stopping from the retailers to sell immediately at 85% RRP upon launch. It is only logical to believe that over time over time prices will drop unless JPY appreciates but it is highly not possible for JPY to change too much. If it is a fast moving len like 45/1.8 and competitors come out with some crazy alternative on other systems, then likely it will be 5% every 3 months. Otherwise I am seeing it to hang around 85-90% RRP within first year.

Kinda sad that SG Olympus still nothing coming to the preorder :(

They are just playing it safe. You know how things are like once someone put in money for a pre-order and if there are any changes, a storm will follow. They are only taking pre-orders (if at all) once they have concrete information from manufacturing side. I am also dying from anticipation. Itchy hands liao.

I don't think I buying liao coz so big and heavy. Will be getting Panasonic 35-100 instead. Smaller, lighter, cheaper and with stabiliser (though I'm using Olympus body)

Different users different needs ;)

Was considering the 35-100/2.8 for its portability originally but after trying the 40-150/2.8 , the difference in performance (and range which goes to 410mm with TC) is sufficient for me to take up the added weight.

Depends on ur preference loh. The image quality of the pany lens also very good.

anyway, the cheerful news is that the price is good. :)
