I think he just cited the Nikon D800 has a prime example, because much of the article was criticizing the decreasing QC standards of late.
It is interesting to note that the Nikon D4 don't seem to have as many problems, despite being (what I assume) to be more complicated.
Nonetheless, this is particularly worrisome, because anyone who have worked with a Japanese firm will know that they are fastidious about quality. Then again, no one is infallible. Despite the much touted procedures and quality control, Japanese manufacturers have made flawed products and even executes product recalls before. Let's hope that this is just a temporary oversight.
