we are all learning from each other here :)

Heard you got a good price for your 12-24..should make use of it more often..nope..din got it from SAM..too gan jiong to use the lens so bought it from SLR 2 days before SAM..luckily the 1st day I go SAM..the price difference is not alot

PS: i din manage to go to SAM on the 2nd day so please dun tell me how much the lens cost on the 2nd day..i am sure i will be :bheart: :sticktong

once got the lens, dont look back. shoot, shoot and shoot more!!

not much luck with macro outing these 2 days. few insects and no keeper. maybe due to the rain. will try landscape for a change.... until the weather improve. just got some new toy from bernard today for my macro shoot. will try them out these couple of days.

a leaf hopper from alexandra hospital butterfly trail. shot this ard 7pm. used auto focus to nail this fella as it was too dark to MF. i sometimes used AF if MF is unusable. hence, if getting a macro lens, dont discount the AF function. it is a very handy tool in dire situation like this.

this is the only keeper from that trip. i only managed two shots before my model hopped away. AF save the day!

i am retiring my plate diffuser as it doesnt work very well for small & crouching insects. the shadow is very harsh here. hope the new one give better results.

Testing out the el-cheapo diffuser, it seems to work well for 1:1 mag or slightly less, ie close to the subject. Further away, I receive shadows. Only one flash FG 540 with the diffusers mounted on the hot - shoe for both images.

Yup, some shadows as the spider was cropped as it was quite a distanace away. Seems to eliminate shadows within about 10 inches distacne.

what is an el-cheapo diffuser? i am upgrading to a from a char bee hoon plate to a char siew pau paper bag now... :bsmilie: totally agreed with you on the shadow-distance correlation. trying out twin diffuser with 2 char siew pau paper bag. the problem is how to divert the flash light into the two bags  :bsmilie:

El-cheapo diffusers is the aluminium can in where I brought to Mandia orchind farm with some slight modification, to highlight the lower portion.

1, more for the night.

uncropped and unprocess. original file.. same diffusers that eliminates shadows at 1:1 magnification. Think tripoid used for this shot.

testing out the 1224 lens this morning at the office with K20D body. got a problem here, the highlight in the cloud and shadow in foreground tree are difficult to render.

C&C welcome.

I still have a lot of empty aluminium cans to stand by, in case adjustment needed in the el-cheapo diffusers.:bsmilie:

Kam Fei, looks a little saturated, my opinion, and based on my untrained eyes. But what do I know. I am quite hopeless with PS.

Hey, looks like a spot for the evening skies! I want to go your office!

Here are some shots taken at Bako National Park near Kuching, Sarawak, East Malaysia last month with K10D + Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4.5

I used a gradual filter that I bought from eBay and I find that there is a strong purple tint where the darkest area of the filter is, looked kinda nice in sunset shots like above, but for daytime shot, it's really unnatural looking like this...

I thought gradual filter should be neutral in colour? Any expert can advise?

These are beautiful shots, Marvin. The composition is just .

The problem with these cheaper filters is you are never going to know what you are going to get. E.g. Tianya ones. Different batches different quality. I also get quite a bit of that, and I am not sure if it's really the Tianya filters or my lack of skills.

I am thinking really hard if I should just dump some money to get this Filter set from David Noton. It's a lot of money!

Taken wit Kx-kit lens pls advice....
