the K200d has an ISO of 640?

how'd you do that?

On the K20D it's under 'Sensitivity steps' (item #3) in the Custom functions menu. Set to 'As EV Steps' and set the 'EV steps' (item #2) to 1/2 stop increments.

Shot this with A200 macro f4, two flash fired, mounted on tripod.

Pictures was cropped.

Better details with this lens, imo.

:bsmilie: you have been poisoned by macro! :sweatsm:

Mounting a Raynox 250 on the front of lens may provide some magnification for macro. About $100/ raynox lens.:D. The last outing in sembawang, someone tried my raynox lens.:D

Yup, that would be Fred (the guy with the beanie hat) and me. Thanks for lending it to us for a try. :)

Tks, Charlie. I do have extension tube, PK as well as PKA tubes. With 50 mm mounted, it provides 1:1 magnification approx. I do have vivitar macro converter and panagor macro converter which converts normal lens to macro lens giving 1:1 mag. These are alternative mode to macro photography at a lower cost. There are always some advantages and disadvantage to the different set-up available. I am still learning and gathering information on different set-up too.;)

Hai, sebianos, so you got your KX already? Next macro outing, will bring all the macro accesories for you to try and macro lenses as well.:bsmilie:

I don't know if I'll have time to do a head to head comparison since the DA* will be packed up and shipped home in a couple of days. For now however, here's a comparison pic between the Tamron 70-200 and the DA* 50-135 to show how they differ in size. The Tamron doesn't have quick-shift and the focus clutch switch is very loud to activate. However, the focusing is not as noisy and slow it as it is often described on forums. The build quality on the Tamron is actually quite good. While it is made from plastic and can sound a bit hollow when tapped, it's about the same as the 90mm macro lens so there's nothing to complain about.

I got my pentax dslr not kx but the k10d together with some prime lenses. Not that i don't like the kx but the k10d feels better in my hands - you know how fat my fingers are. :bsmilie:

I've ordered a reverse ring to test out some first and yes, looking forward to testing all the macro accessories :)

I prefer K10 d to KX for my macro. My shutter count is probably 40K mainly macro. K10 d is a workhorse.

Hey marcus, this lighting is pretty good! I'm still looking out for the extension tubes, so many choices dunno which one to choose. I'm also looking out for teleconverter 2X. any suggestions?

Yes, heartily agree with you on the k10d.

OK, a little OT. I noticed something strange... my jpegs come out a little tilted to the right... is this a common with k10d? And if so, can this be easily rectified? Thanks in advance :)

40k of macros is a LOT !!! hahaha

Looks like you've got a case of tilted viewfinder.

I'm not sure about mine, but since I don't do much landscape, it wouldn't bother me much.

Thanks Baracus!

Guess that's what it is... they were saying that it could be one or all 3 elements - focus screen, viewfinder, and the sensor + SR mechanism.

Doesn't bother me much too, easily rectified in post-processing. Still, if can fix will be bestest.

Decided to get a 200mm f2.8 recently. Was eyeing the FA*, but the prices was quite high... In the end, I got a Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar instead, at a much lower price. True, the AF on the FA* would be helpful, but not that factor not a deal breaker. Besides, the glass was gorgeous.

Took it out for a test today, here're some samples. All wide open. Do note that the pictures below are actually better than they look - photobucket doesn't do justice to them. Also, colour tone is slightly cool - i overtuned it a bit when I was getting rid of the natural bias the K20D has towards rendering pictures slightly warm and violet-y.

cropped - I suspect that the focus is slightly off for this one, and this could have been sharper. But not easy to focus when the M42 adapted mount is loose, and the lens itself weighs 1.27 kg.

Bokeh's wonderful, does a great job with backlit scenes:

And a close up, on a purely bokeh shot
