Me son... shot with OMD + 25mm... wonder other than upgrading skill... will a FF give better result.... or a 35-100mm...... ;):embrass:

Cute baby. I think for now, your OMD and PL25mm are good for taking your baby shots. I doubt the 35-100mm will do much at the moment. Get your composure right and you're good to go with taking great baby pics! :)

Agree... :)

Tis 35-100mm is really yummy...... but saving for a FF setup also..... OMD + 12-35 + (future) 35-100 for walkaround, small event shoot.... FF for family, bb, children Portrait shots.... hmmm...... which come first.... :embrass::dunno::sweat:

I agree with another forum member that this is not a good plan. In fact, I came to m43 system from a FF system and have no regrets at all. Now I take a lot more photos of my young children than before because I bring my camera out with me a lot more often. When you have kids, you really don't feel like carrying heavy camera gear with you. As far as I am concerned, I gave up very little in terms of IQ (except the shallow DOF, continuous AF tracking) but I gained a lot in terms of weight savings and the spontaneity and joy of taking photos due to the small size of the m43 system. BTW, I use the EM5.

I agree fully. That is why 35-100 is my target lens to get. I will then have 12-35 and 35-100 to cover the range. Cfm for walk around, M43 is good.

The reason why I looking at FF, other than the reason u state, is the overall feel of the bigger body, the big OVF.... and the illogical itch of wanting to go FF..... Haaaa... even if I do get a FF, likely will not bring out for walk around shoot.... maybe little bit of landscape... that's all. Mainly use use for indoor Portrait and maybe join some arrange model shoot or something.... sound illogical... yes.... but that's how we all got poison and do illogical thing.... haaaa

Bigger body can be solved by EM5+grip or GH3. :)

For anyone who has bought from japanese stores such as yodobashi and BIC camera, do they give tax refund on the spot or need to claim at the airport? how many percent is the tax refund for tourist?

Also, how much more should i expect to pay if using mastercard? sorry for the noob question. thanks. :)

Refund is on the spot, just show them your passport, they will know what you want. Minimum 10,000 yen spending to be eligible for refund.
However my experience with Yodobashi is that their in-house Yodobashi Gold Card discount is usually better than the 5% tax refund, so usually I use that instead. It's either/or, so you can't get both discounts.

They DO NOT charge extra for paying via Mastercard/VISA. Only Singapore retailers do that.
But beware of exchange rates for credit cards, usually they will charge you pretty high, around 5% more than usual.

haaaa my OMD already with Grib...... not just the size... the bigger OVF, the bigger "button"... ;)...... not that the OMD is no good... pretty decent I must say.... but the thing is mainly FF virus..... frankly, one day I would probably give in to the virus.... just dont know when..... likely when there is a price reduction.... haaaaa...... but got a feeling I may get the 35-100 first....

Thanks bro! :)

Btw, how can I get the Yodobashi Gold Card?

I am sure you are aware of this but just in case, you do realize that when you change system it is not just getting a new body but you also need to buy lenses, flash and other accessories. This can quickly adds up to a few times the cost of the body depending on what you buy. When I moved from FF to m43 I needed to buy everything from scratch. Bottomline: it costs a lot to maintain multiple systems! But if you have the funds, why not?

Thank bro..... ya it will cost a bomb and no I dont have deep pocket unfortunately.... I dont intend to sell the M43 system even if I do go for FF system..... it has its purpose also...... my ideal FF setup will be pure prime (cheap 1.8 prime though, boh $$$) for Portrait..... :embrass::sweat:... again sound illogical lar...... but will do it slow and steady over a period of time if I decide to get FF......

Thanks bro! :)

You can just apply on the spot. But you need a local address if I remember correctly.
But I got mine like 8 years ago, the rules might have changed.

Else just borrow, most people who frequent Japan will hold 1. :D

Completely agree with this. I bought the OMD as a test of the MFT system again. And I love it. Sold off my entire canon system and now finding equivalents to reduce my gear.

Sup brah. :bsmilie: I also same story, dumped my entire Nikon FF D700 set with lenses, got myself a nice little OM-D with 4 lenses which is like 1/3 the weight of my old setup and still got a bit of money left to lim kopi.

Very pleasant with my 35-100mm F2.8. Quite faster in focus.

My humble thanks for your comments. I am very happy owning 12-35 and 35-100 lens. No regrets @all!

Hi All,

May i know whats the total cost now if buying from amazon jp?

Conversion based on today's exchange rate on google:
Lens price: 91,359 yen == 1219.34 sgd
Tenso charges: 907 grams == 2290 yen == 30.50 sgd
GST: depends
Total = $1249.84 sgd

Did i miscalculate or miss out anything?

Sounds about right.
But don't forget the exchange rate is different depending on which credit card you use. Usually they charge around 5% more to cover the spread.
