OMG! Look at the EM-1 aka the now official E-M1 Thread

is it ugly?

What I hope for was a swivel screen instead of a tilt screen ;)

Looking at the rumour pictures, it will not be swivel. no hinge at the side. most like a tilt screen again.

Just cant understand the naming nomenclature. From em5 to em1. Next time how are they going to name the new cameras.

E-M1 MkII.........X?

This may me wonder their direction... ... predicting:

E-M1 series pro range (using the same design with grip) that will have the best technology available

E-M5 series stylist range (using the same design without grip other colour range, silver, brown, black etc) that will have the 2nd best technology available

E-M3 series... ... hmmmm

dunno is thie EM-1 really a good thing or not... it's kinda funny that mirrorless camera makers are trying to make their cameras bigger... more $$$ and more "pro".... but DSLR makers are trying to make their entry level DSLRs smaller... lighter and cheaper...:confused:

It should be like that, it makes sense.

Base on market perception that big DLSR is better.... it made sense for Olympus to follow the crowd.
But on design language, i think they have lost their way a little just to please the crowd. The zenith of their design to me is the E-P5.

but isn't ironic... that the whole reason why the mirrorless camp started and gained traction is because of the prospect of having a smaller body that is as capable as DSLRs in terms of IQ... but instead of improving the IQ in the same smaller body... we are targetting "pro" users who wants a bigger camera...?

Not really. They need to target them as well obviously with their mirror-less bodies coz that's all they have and they also want a piece of that cake.

They're just casting a wider net. For me this is to satisfy the pros and those with 43 glasses.

Hope the tech trickles down to the entry em, ep and epl series, less the high price. :D
