OMG! Look at the EM-1 aka the now official E-M1 Thread

is it ugly?

Parts will never quietly runs out so long the lenses are still in production.

True. Since Lumix stopped production of the 14-150, 25, 14-50. Sigma also stop production of their range of 4/3 lenses. So in the near future, those lenses becomes door stops!!!

Look at the latest prototype. It seems to look better than the current em-5. I think the 12-40mm F2.8 looks great too.

Woo... wee... getting better and better by the day... Really really tempting now.

Why? I used lens that are older than myself (and I am exactly not that young either?)

And don't tell me if the electronic parts are spoilt... Because I can even use a Canon 300mm f4L (without the IS) for two years now, plus the years that it had been build... these lens can last. Even if the electronic gave out, I can still use the lens manually... so I don't see how these lens become door stop.

Strange enough, i scrutinize this photo over and over again.... it looks exactly the same as the video one. except with 12-40 lens.... and what a world of difference it make to the look of the camera. I guess the E-M1 will look better with larger lens ... possible even better with 4/3 lens. And will look really funny with m4/3 smaller lens like the 17/1.8 or Panny 20/1.7, 14/2.5.

If the specs are almost identical to E-P5 except that its weather sealed,... i would get the E-P5 with VF4 instead. :)

seems like the body size is meant for bigger lenses. confirmed will look quite funny with the smaller primes. :P

Is this the final design of the body or a prototype?
Think Lumix 12mm-35mm ƒ2·8 with OIS (IS switchable on the lens) is better.

dunno issit the final shape or prototype? since the announcement is not too far away. the final product may look exactly like the one in the picture.

I don't think it will be any bigger than the current OMD, except for the deeper grip. Anyway, with my third party grip on my OMD, I doubt the EM1 will be bigger than that. So to me, it is alright. But I will also not buy it because my OMD is still going strong and I love my OMD.

... So essentially you pay 2200-2300SGD (more likely 2400SGD at launch) for a camera with a smaller sensor yet at a price more than a Nikon D7100?!? I mean, weight comparison aside, this is a sizable markup.

Too expensive to justify an upgrade from em5. Cmd officer at home will not approve man.

u dun get a constant f2.8 zoom with a nikon d7100 right? i've used dslr and i find them bulky. reminds me of my army days when i bring them for overseas trip.

You DO. The 17-55/2.8. If you want cheap, go with Sigma. The Sigma 18-35/1.8 looks like a pretty sweet lens.

Honestly, Olympus still does not get that they are pricing their cameras at prices people will not pay. They will simply go the same way their FT system went, and then the system dies a silent slow death, and then they quietly abandon the mount, for the 3rd damn time.

And that would add up to? D7100 body, plus 17-55 f2.8 or 18-35 f1.8... I have asked, 18-35mm is somewhere around 1k+, so... yeah. Plus I like what Olympus produce, the color, the satuation, the weigh, the size of the camera+ lens, etc. So I would say... yeah, it is worth that type of price. But you might not agree, which is fine too... each one had his/her own preferences.

But m4/3 will never satisy your cravings on creamy bokeh

Sorry... I never have such a cravings... Photograph doesn't just revolve around creamy bokeh. Plus if I really crave for that, I would go for FF... because APS-C might not cut it too.

Then again... you might crave for creamy bokeh... which is perfectly alright too. Then don't go for m4/3 and go for APS-C or FF from other brands ;)

I do achieve creamy bokeh with my 50-200 and 35-100. when you place the subject in the right proportion to background you get creamy bokeh equal to FF. Need some practice or rather calculations.

Thought the lens is well priced??

Think m4/3 genially still going strong and hopefully more third parties maker come in

Bodies wise, no. Even if they do, few would have the incentive to invest too much tech to match the progress made by the big 2.

Color and saturation is something you could do easily in post with Lightroom. In fact, the weakness in M43 is that even at low ISO, the shadow noise is quite noticeable, which is less of a problem in APS-C. And APS-C wise, Fuji does a pretty good job with colors as well.
