Those are chaff / flare dispensers. Just immediately aft of it is the air deflector that must be activated whenever the aft side doors are to be opened in mid-air for paradrop operations.

You mean they are retiring so soon after they are spotted with the new Star Alliance livery?

This Star Alliance livery has been on SPP for a long time already and it's one of 3 B744s left in service (following SPJ and SPQ). The last commercial flight of the B744 will on 24 March to MEL and returning the next day. This marks the final journey of 4 decades of service of SIA 747s.
