Thanks for the compliments..She is expensive...Lol

Can someone guide me which area is off focus? Any tips? If I stop down aperture, will it help?

it feels like the whole scene out of focus. But the picture is abit small to really confirm that it's OOF or soft... Thou I believe it's OOF instead of soft.

What was your setting? Where was ur focus points and how you want the outcome of the picture to be?

If you wanted the entire scene to be in focus (cute girl and breakfast) then stopping down to f/7 - f/11 would have helped to keep everything in that scene focused.

However if you wished to focus on the cute girl only and have everything else out of focus, use a large aperture (f1.4 - f/2.8) and make sure that your focus point is on the eyes of your subject. Using such a large aperture also causes your DOF (depth-of-field) to be razor thin... perhaps just a few millimetres. Therefore, a tripod and a very still subject (cute little girl) would be very helpful.

It all sounds complicated when taking a seemingly simple shot, but it doesn't take much to cause something to be out-of-focus (OOF). Hope this helps. :)

Thanks! Will try that next time.if I try the settings u mentioned will the background be blurred? I use that aperture to blur the background so viewers. Can focus on the girl and her breakfast.

My settings was aperture :f/5 shuttle speed:1/60 iso:1250

I guess the best answer to your question is: it depends.... distance also plays a factor in DOF and whether things in the background are blurred. The closer you are to the subject the more the background will be blurred. The further away... the more in focus it will be.

Depending on how far away you were from your subject, an aperture of f/5 should be enough to blur the background but not to any significant degree. If you try the same setting and subject at f/2.8 you'll see a difference... not only in the blurriness of the background... but there will also be a good jump in your shutter speed (which is a good thing when trying to get a good sharp photo).

In your example, the shutter speed is a little low. Holding the camera very steady is possible at this shutter speed for sharp effects but a higher shutter speed is preferred (in my opinion... others may disagree). Two things can easily be done to rectify this issue... i) increase ISO... the IQ of the 6D is good at much higher ISO's; ii) increase aperture to say f/2.8 (which also increases blurriness in the background).

Thanks for sharing! My girl was actually right in front of me separate by a small table which was having the breakfast on it. Mine is a 24-105 constant 4 lens.so can't get to 2.8.l will up iso than.I Will take note and do that when I save up enough for a portrait. Lens. In the meantime I want to explore more with this lens as I will be bringing this combo to China to take photos of the landscape and some portrait. Of the people there.

Keep taking photos and experiment. That is the best way to learn. :)
