OFFICIAL: CANON EOS 6D - User Thread - Part 3

I am enjoying my 6D more and more these days. I hope the 6D together with 70D will last me all the way to 2020 and beyond... :bsmilie:. After all, I use each laptop for 5 years before replacement.

I think that's possible, why wouldn't it? At most if the sensor or wdv parts die, just get them replaced! Hahaha! Only thing is, what if the parts cost as much as getting a 2nd hand but newer model? Hmmm...

Very good deal.. but why get original battery? OEM battery only $25 :D... I get Extreme Pro 95mb/s 32GB at $88...

Hi all, a quick check - any of you bought 6D these 2 days? What is the bag you got from Canon? Thanks

I got bad experience with 3rd party batteries with my 450D, not sure about third party LP-E6. If Im to get 3rd party battery in future, any recommendations? And charger too :D

Just save a few more weeks/months to buy a LP-E6.. If you're scared, get it from places like techno gadgets, selling at $90+ or Funan $120. Anyway batteries have no warranty, so "grey set" shops or not dont really matter.

(: thing is already got full frame camera, don't save on such things. Shoot w confidence and ease of mind!

i got it from song brothers. Just ask for oem batteries. 5th full charge so far.. No problems at all... I cant bear to spend 120 on original battery.. Rather buy 3 or 4 oem. More disposable...

I just realised there is a 3rd party LP-E6 battery in the box ;p, think the shop guy forgot to take out. Cannot charge with original charger though.

Hi friends,

After much temptation and research I've give up on my micro 4/3. Love that EP-3, it had served me well with good pics.. However it kept me frustrated with is low light capabilities.
As I decided not to spent much on that camera, I've bought the 6D (body only) from DD Electronis at $2070 (gray set). I also bought a 3rd party battrey for $40 (I think) opp peninsula, the shop near the POSB entrance (forget the shop name).
So far I've used it for events and loved it.
Can I have some inputs from you guys.. Which lense is best for this FF camera.. If rent and tried the 24-70 f2.8 I and the 16-35 f.2.8. I like the 16-35 but still confused which one to buy. Need help guys..
Also base on ur experience can you guys highlight to me what are ur fav lense for events.. Thanks..

Have you guys use the magic lantern's dual ISO or ETTR? I have been using them and the pictures are great.

Ha, I also sold my entire m43 collection recently. After using it for a year, I realized I totally HATED the EVF experience.

I think the 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/2.8 IS probably make the best combo for events.

Personally, I shall use the 24-105 f/4 IS and 70-200 f/4 IS because they are much lighter weight. Recently used the 50 f/1.4 for an event, and was very happy with the results. :D

Probably will give it a shot later. So far, I've only used Magic Lantern for automatic lens calibration (based on dot-tune concept). Works wonders. :bsmilie:

Whoa. So many m4/3 to 6D converts. I went from EPL-2 to OMD to 6D, still keeping my OMD plus a few m4/3 lenses in case I want a lightweight travel kit. No regrets, though wallet is feeling it.. Was going to just buy 6D + 24-105, in the end went to get the corresponding lenses in Canon FF that I have in m4/3.

7-14 <---> 17-40L
20 <---> Sigma 35 (the 40mm pancake is very average..)
12-35 <---> 24-70L mkII
45 <---> 85 1.8

hmmm..... me also unloading my M43 system back to FF...... looking at 6D and also a smaller body as backup/outing, so also considering the 100D..... good choice??? :dunno: Also consider Nikon D600... but dont have a smaller Nikon body to pair it... :rolleyes:

Ya, I think the 100D is a great choice. I got the 70D because I thought I could do wonders with live view PDAF (e.g., fast placement of AF point, fast & accurate AF etc)... only to realize the shot to shot interval is too long in live view. If I have to choose again, I will definitely get the 100D.

I'm currently using these 2 bodies! 6D & 100D for my daily/walkabout camera! Attaching a prime lens to it & I get a really compact & good camera in my hands!

Definitely a worthy back-up camera, plus it doesn't cost as much as the 700D/70D & it's really small! (:

Good to hear that bro. Main advantage is that both can share lenses and 1 of the body is quite small. Would have consider the M if not for the slow AF... hmmm

Forget the EOS M! Not worth it at all!

Yeah and you lose the ability and advantage of being able to share lenses.
