Official Canon EOS 60D User Thread Part I

Just got my 60D with sandisk class 10 yesterday & play with it for 3 mins.
60D body is really feather light, which is good with small len.
Canon really pack it with so many new features.
The build-in wireless flash is my favourite.
Ooops, it make me want to get another flash again:angry:
I give myself over this weekend to get used to it.
If not, u will see it in BNS .... Anyone want to reserved it !!! :sweat:
I miss the body skin texture of 50D.
I miss the shutter sound of 50D.
I miss the responsiveness of 50D.
So far, only these 3 ...

60D less reponsive than 50D??? That is news to me.
try to quickly set the iso and wb and flash exposure compensation without moving your eye away from the viewfinder.. [ it is not possibe for FEC and WB ]
the ISO button is not as easy to locate with index finger when the eye is on the viewfinder..
in that sense, I'd consider the camera to be slower when in action to shoot... probably can say its not as responsive ...

Interesting. Ya, both WB and FEC are not displayed on the top LCD panel of the 60D.
On the other hand, the ISO button on the 60D has a slight portrusion as compared to its neighboring buttons. For the 50D/7D, I have to feel the buttons and do some counting.
I guess if one associates fps with responsiveness, then the 60D can be considered a slower camera than the 50D.

if u dun fiddle with WB or FEC settings & if u havent used any prior xxD series before.... 60D is ok to buy and use as upgrade for your 500D.
If u came from the path of 20/30/40/50D series, 60D will probably make you use hokkien swear words when u realised what features they had left out from the previous models.

i just sold my 500d and im thinking of getting a 60d but am super confuse with all the mix reviews. haha, those who have already bought the 60d mind if you give a direct review?

Confused? :bsmilie: Let me just say this: I used to own the 7D and downgraded it to the 60D. I am keeping the 60D for a long time... The reduced size/weight + far more reliable AF (which has no issues with red objects) + articulate screen are highly appreciated by me. I have tested the 60D with all my lenses (10-22, 17-55 f/2.8, 70-200 f/4L IS, 100 f/2.8L HIS) and all of them focus fine with the new body. My back-up is an aging 450D which I have been using for donkey years.
It appears that if you redeem the free gift from Canon @ Harborfront, you'll receive an 8 GB class 6 SD card. But if you collect the gift from the camera shop, it's only class 4.

I agree with this. Not that the 7D AF is horrendous but the 60D definitely trumps it in terms of reliability.

Anyone has recommendation on WA lens? Now Sigma 10-20 is one of the considerations. Any more? I don't think I'll be aiming for 10-22 of canon as its a little on the high side...

anyone using those glass type LCD screen protector on 60D?
can it still close properly when LCD screen facing inside?
In principle, screen protectors are not needed since the LCD is articulate.
However, I don't like to smudge the screen with my nose oil, so I have a thin transparent plastic screen over the LCD. This allows me to have the screen face outwards when I am using the camera.
