Official Canon EOS 60D User Thread Part I

Just got my 60D body from J3:16 today! :)
Does anyone know where to purchase a 60D user guide? I'm not sure if Canon showroom has it.

care to share what is this user guide is about?

you may visit the ground floor at funan (where john 3.16 located) there a shop for photography.

Oh man! I passed by that ground floor shop today! anyway a user guide is a very handy guide book that has detailed explanation with diagrams what each setting is about. :D

Does anyone know if the Canon tripod is handy in which I should register my warranty to redeem? I'm thinking of "prolonging" my warranty and thus not registering as yet. Any suggestions on this? :)

There's no such thing as prolonging the warranty if you don't register now. It will still ask when u bought it based on the receipt.

I redeemed the tripod and I feel it's a decent piece of product. I expected a plastic tripod but it was not. I was even surprised that it has a ball type quick release mount and capable of panning motion too.

hi all, is the tripod automically redeemed when you registered the camera for its warranty? i cant find a separate section to redeem the tripod on the webdite...

Hmmm...
TK quoted me 1350 with only 8GB and bag.
Did i just miss the deal? T^T Damn...

U have to register online, afterwhich print out the confirmation email & go down to CDL at level 1.
Promo ends in May but I forgot the date.

4th of May. Just check Canon's webpage under promotions.

Pls do get new sets asap. I have heard many ppl and even j3:16 mentioning due to japan crisis, there will be a shortage of kits available. Right now stock is low. I bought last piece from 3:16 and TK foto mentioned they would need to replenish stocks in 3 to 4 wks. New stocks may take until June to arrive. =x

I think cathay also no stock for 60D body liao

Dear all, I am very new to DSLR. But I am thinking of getting Canon D60. But cannot decide on which kit to buy. To me, Kit III looks very attractive to me based on the lens range and price. Can anyone advise which one should I buy? Thanks.

Hi, Think it depends on what you are using the 60D for, if for general use such as travelling, taking portraits pictures, etc, the 18-200mm is really handly as it cover all ranges, and you do not need to change len and miss any shots when you travel. You will prob sacrifice on the image quality.

But if you intend to take portraits shots, a good lens to start with prob would be the inexpensive 50mm f1.8.

Do take time to read up some reviews, there are sites as follows.

Get something that suits your need, buying the wrong len may end up missing on shots you wanted (e.g travelling and find out your len cant zoom far enough etc) and costly to sell and buy new lens.

Thank you for your reply.
I am actually getting this for general use like for portraits and maybe traveling.

If were to compare kit II and kit III which will be a better choice? :)
