kit II is shorter in range but slightly better image quality, kit III is cover most range. i used to have the 18-135mm but after travelling with it, i found the range to be shorter than what i wanted, in the end bought the 18-200m.

for the price diff, the 18-200mm in kit III is more worth it. check out the retail price, if you dont like you can alway sell it at bns and get the cheaper 18-135mm without much loss, if any at all..

Just back from HK with my new 60D. Paid HKD7,850 (S$1,280). This is after combing Mongkok for the entire afternoon. The cheapest in Mongkok, Wingshing/ManShing is 8,200. I bought mine in a small shop in Times Square.

Overall, not worth going to HK to buy camera body. Buying Lens is ok. Can expect close to 10% off Singapore prices. But unless you are buying very expensive lens, else, it will not be worth it -- you dont get local warranty.

Hi guys, I've been trying to find the shutter count of my 60D but i'm not sure how to. I know the menu has an option but I heard that is the shutter count of each fully charged battery. Does EOS utility software have a way to check? Please advise. Thanks.

dun think u can check the shutter count w/o going to canon service centre, if i am not wrong, there is this free software online but it only works for older models.

Dear all, I am very new to DSLR. But I am thinking of getting Canon D60. But cannot decide on which kit to buy. To me, Kit III looks very attractive to me based on the lens range and price. Can anyone advise which one should I buy? Thanks.

I got my 60D about a month ago. Upgraded from a sx30is. The sx30is has an incredible zoom which is one of the reasons I got the 18-200. It's really versatile for beginners and you can go trigger happy till you know what really suits you. Just got the 50mm 1.8 yesterday and can really see the change in the subjects I take. With the 50mm, you can really bring out a subject with shallow dof. Also the wider aperture means great shots at lower ISO/lighting as compared to the 18-200. You do lose out on the zoom though so the 18-200 will still make a very good lens to bring out.

I was thinking of getting the SX30IS when it was first launched but manage to resist the temptation to buy. But lately hand itchy want to get a digicam for shooting family outings. Initially want to get the 600D but later decided to invest a bit more on the 60D with 18-200mm. I think most probably the 18-200mm will be glued on the body for long long time coz I dun think I will invest in other lens.

My last cam was the Canon G2 which i got about 10 years ago. :bsmilie:

I've just collected the Canon Tripod from harbourfront. Like what others said, it's quite a good tripod and is a ball headed one, not those typical $30 tripod that is normally given free.

Remember to ask for your 60D user guide too! It is stated online that it should come with it. If the shop didn't give it to you, you can collect it from Harbourfront too!

What is this user guide you are talking about? Is it in the form of a CD or book? I just called the digilab and they said there's no such things.. Could you pls share a picture of the user guide you collected?

This will depend on how deep you want to get into photography. I myself am a very newbie in DSLR, so initially i bought the kit 2 with 2 considerations: 1) It's not as big as the kit3, and i dun need 200mm

However, after 2 weeks of intensive crash course in photography with the lens, i ended up selling it and if i had known earlier, i wouldn't have gotten any kit… It's a decent lens but if you do intend to get more serious, you'll end up buying better lenses. Currently, i can't imagine using any other lens than the 24-105L which i'm using now. It's the most versatile and sharp lens in that range that fit almost anything. I also bought a 11-16mm UWA for the wider ranges….so from my initial mindset when buying the 60D of having a kit2 being more than adequate, within 1mth, my entire mindset changed…

It is precisely with the sx30is that's why i ended up with the 60D. The sx30is is a pretty decent camera with very large zoom (140x). Sorta a spy camera ha and also takes very nice pictures. But it's limited in the sense that i find it difficult to play around with DOF even on AV settings. Therefore after getting it in dec, I decided to invest in a 60D in order to satisfy my cravings.. Still use the sx30is for those super far bird shots though till I have enough for better telephoto lens lol.

It's kinda like a magazine.. Do a search on google and see the image and you should be able to see it. Still outside so can't take a pic to show..

Just bought one from Canon showroom at Vivocity for $15. Looks a good reference rather than reading the standard manual.

Yes. You'll need your receipt, warranty card(form) and the confirmation.

Btw, the user's guide I'm referring to is the one blitz bought for $15. It should come free with the current promo. Refer to canon.com.sg and look under EOS 60D

I purchased by 60D last week from J3:16 but I didnt get the 60D guide. Do you think Canon will give one even though I didnt purchase from them directly? If not I've got to spend $15 bucks to get one. =x

Ya. I didn't get it from TK Foto either. Called Canon and ask and last Friday if I could collect from them and they said ok.
