Are you sure its not the lens IS motor... a few seconds after you hear the sound if you dun do anything on the camera does the sound disappear?

Erm..... I'm not using image stabilised lenses..... and nope, the winding noise is from the camera. Different from the click sound you get from IS modules.

Hi, I just joined the club.... Love the body. ;)

Thanks.... I moved from a old 1Ds mark 1. I have been only taking Macro stuff....

with the crop factor, i still feel crop cameras are at more advantage when shooting macros. i feel "short changed" shooting macros with FF. i tried shooting with canon 100mm f2.8 macro (non L) (with/without extension tube), tamron 90mm f2.8 (with/without extension tube), canon 135mm f2 (yes this lens no joke, with extension tube), i still cannot get the kind of reach on crop bodies using the same lens setup. guess for FF, u need a minimum of 150mm - 180mm for very nice close up macros.

u can get at downstairs at CSC (canon service center) that building (forget that building name), it cost $39. then u can bring it up to CSC to get it installed FOC (try not to do it yourself in case you mess it up... the focusing screen is very delicate and attracts dust easily).

CSC dun sell but u can get it at ground floor. the accuracy is definitely better cos u can see much clearer then the default focusing screen. however slow lens (more then f2.8), everything appears to be darker (this is normal, dun be panic if u see this).

bought mine from the Canon gallery at Vivo and installed it on the spot..;)

Fellow CSers

I took the plunge yesterday and bought Canon 5D Mark II along with Canon 24-105 F4 L USM and 580EX flash. Will do some shooting this week in KL and when I am back let me post some images.

Hi everyone. Just got my 5Dmk2 about a week ago. Bought it at SLS Alan photo.
i previously own a 450D, and already purchased the 24-105L lens.
its a very happy purchase for me, switching from the 450D to the 5Dmk2.

Foremost would be the grip, i'm 181cm, the 5Dmk2 feels much more comfortable in my hands. I held it the whole day at the Surf and Sweat event at sentosa on sunday and it wasnt tiring at all, while the 450D, my hand doesnt grip it entirely and its just my fingers clining on (hope you get what i mean)
i love the full frame, i really get a literially bigger view of things. though range is now slightly limited, i do crop when needed
the ISO handling on this 5D is also excellent, i just shoot at 6400 when it gets dark without a worry of noise
IQ is excellent. (as compared to what i got from the 450D, which is good as well, but when compared, then yea ..)

excellent, excellent, purchase.

was holding out for the 5Dmk3 initially, but heck who knows when its coming? and the price would probably be a thousand higher than the current 5Dmk2.
my 450D has served me well, i've taken slightly over 80k shots with it since purchasing it in 2008. will use it has a back-up lens.

there's a big hole in my pocket now. and im only a year 2 student studying in NTU.!!

my next intended purchase is a 70-200 F2.8 IS. I tried out the Sigma one, which cost 1900+ (including GST) and the Canon one, which cost $3300+ ? .... besides the really solid build. and perhaps a slightly better IQ at 100% on the 5Dmk2 (i tried it out at the shop together the same day i bought the body).

Is it really worth the extra $1k?
