bummer - just realised MkIII is 950g or about 100g heavier than the MkII.
i understand weather sealing but I'd like to understand where the +12% increase is coming from.
hopefully its the battery, for longer battery life, and not just cheaper and heavier materials.

Battery is LP-E6... So no change.

Build is definitely more solid than 5D II. Feels like a EOS-1v :)

Just joined 5dmk2 group. Lol. I will not get the mk3 yet as most of time new camera means new bug n n firmware issue. Wait will next year then see how mk3 stable. Anyway feel that mk3 is over price ><

One reason why I preferred the 5DII to the D700 was that at 850g it is significantly lighter vs 995g without battery. With the Nikkor 24-70 at 900g the whole package is like 2kg. Canon still has a very slight advantage since the new 24-70 is only 805g down from 950g. Basically we are back to square 1.

Wireless flash? What are you triggering from, and to what component?

Eh.... I am pretty noob to this system. Do I need to buy a trigger unit to attach to my hotshoe?

Yes , you need to a trigger unit to attach to your 5DMKII hotshoe. Since you are using Nissin 866MKII, you have the option to use a high speed syn trigger to syn your off camera flash higher than 1/200..all the way to 1/8000. But watch out for the slow charging time for 866MKII, it take 5-6 sec to charge when fire at full power :)

U will need at trigger like canon ST-E2... I used it to trigger to separate flash(canon and nissin)in different channels. No problem at all.

Thanks for the reply... Was wondering if there is any third party can recommend.....

I pretty sting in other items except lens :p

There r few flash tigger like pocket wizard. Cheap one also have like yougnuo etc, but most dun have TTL function (only can set manual) and dun have high speed.
Or get another flash, so can use 1 as master and work another as slave

You can get this 3rd party trigger - Pixel (two models : Knight and King) both have ETTL function for Canon. I use it for my 5DMKII on 580EXII and Nissin 866MKII flash for the last 2 yrs, is accurate and high speed syn is very useful when you need to shoot wide open, Cost you around $220 for set of TX n RX. If you like to trigger your flash manually without high speed syn, there are trigger selling for $50-60 a set of TX & RX.

There is someone selling the pixels trigger a couple of day back... Do a search in BnS.
