Nikon SLR

Hi, Nikkornos

May I know something on F100 is quite similar design as F6 today.
But the price is look like no value to have the F100.
All of them still prefer on F2 and above..
Do you have any experience on this?
Thanks your advise.

F100 is still a 90s camera, film based. It is a scaled down F5 design I think, and came out well before F6.

Value is in the eyes of the beholder.
Like market shares, all shares are the same. It is those shares that are traded heavily (because of hype, play, or whatever big $$$ guy push up) that has value, right? You buy SIA share, how much ups and down can it offer you?

Nikon 3D matrix metering is great for flash and slides photography. The old F90x to F801 are still accurate until today.
If you do not want to be burdened by F5's 8 frames/second and only need 4 or 5 frames/second, the F100 is great.

I nearly obtained a F80, until I learned that AIS camera does not have metering coupling with the F80. So Adios.
The F601 still works well for me.

If you like weather proofing, CHEAP (yeah F90x, F801s all only 100 dollars now :sticktong ) F100, why not.

You can see my emphasis are still prime Nikkor AIS and AFD lenses, some 3rd party gems.
So, AIS, non AI compatibility, use of AFD are important for me.
The F601, F801s, F90x are still my main camera bodies. The F501 with a light lens is my so called 'RF' kit.

I need AF because of age now. I see many posted MF or RF pictures, all out of focus, a clear sign of lack of training or discipline.
If cannot shoot well focused pictures, might as well shoot Holga, right?

F2 is hyped up value. Its heavy, and for me the Nikkormat FT3 is good enough.

Sorry my bad. Didn't know about this model. But seriously, are you gonna buy that and not load a roll of film into it?

Sorry no, cause when I see the price, is look like can't afford this anymore.

That f3 AF version uses different lenses.
I don't think AFD /-S lenses works.

I agree on F3AF can't works on AFD/G lens. The body no built-in motor drive.

Thanks I will keep it info.

Sold my chrome FE today, but dunno to be happy or sad. I didn't enjoy using that because it was in such great condition, I prefer a user body that I don't need to think about when I hit the streets. The person who bought it is a collector, so it should be well preserved for sometime. But sadly, I feel that cameras should be used to take photos instead of being just a display.

Hi, but your final decided should be the right, if you can to take care in future, better let it go and let's the chance who can taking care of the FE life.
Just like mine also bought from 2nd hand, but I'm really like the cam & keep if for collector in my main point or just shoots with 1 or 2 rows films if possible.
BTW next time my daughter when she know how to used the cam, then I can explain to her, this is called films base camera at 70s..
Ha ha

Nothing much to add except that i love my FM very much, i have the 50/f2 and 35/f2 lens.

In future got chance grab the 50 1.2 or 55 1.2 sure I will go for it.

For user camera, do consider the F601. You will love it.

Thanks

Depends... I am not sure which one you referring to... But I think most uses LR44/SR44 (my Nikon FA, Pentax K1000 does)

If it's the LR44/SR44 1.5V button cells - YES
If it's the 4LR44 6V - YES
If it's the mercury 1.35V - NO

Others like CR123 are also available still.. :)

Ya ya looks like all still under the market today :)

Wah never see it before :(

Old Nikon bodies usually can find batteries, no issue

PX625 can use the Wein Cell.
Usually the older FM or FE or FG series used the LR44 type.

For F801 F90x etc used the standard AA sized battery.
F501 uses the AAA small battery.
F70 used CR2025 or 2X CR123 battery.
F601QD uses CR-P2/DL-223A (can modify from CR123).

Many years ago, I went to Korea to shoot the winter temples.
The cameras that used LR44, AA alkaline all failed.
It was the F601QD saved the day. The Lithium battery managed to survive -30C the brutal Korean weather.
The FM mechanical cam was OK too.
