Smaller aperture you mean, higher "f-number" means smaller hole in the lens, since it is a ratio calculated by 1 / Fnum.

Hi guys need to ask a noob question. As i've being facing lousy IQ problem since the day i bought the camera using my 18-55 VR kit lens.

1) When i put autofocus on auto changing between still/moving subject and metering on 3D. i would still be able to select the focus point which is we could view thru our viewfinder. But if there's two person in the photo we could only place one person in the viewfinder and not both. THen when i snap it came out that one person was clear while the other was off focus. But sometimes it turns out both are clear. Could anyone suggest or recommend me a better way or style in which i could resovle this?

2) When i take photos of scenery the photo when not zoomed into 100% looks good. but when i put it at 100% in view NX. The photo came out pretty much noisy and pixelated even when i'm in Shutter priority/Aperture piority. I'm not sure what's the problem.

As my gf has being saying i can't see the difference between ur camera and a point and shoot! and i'm oging bogus over it wanna improve on it to prove nikon rocks.

Do you mean smaller aperture? If you want to extend the Depth of Field (get more things at different distances to be in focus), you want a smaller aperture.

D300s and D90 so have to forgo the D5k but yes... much further down the DARK side especially since ima chiong a wide angle lens later. :devil:

What do you mean by cheap?

Fact on tripods:

Cheap and Sturdy = Heavy
Light and Sturdy = Expensive
Cheap and Light = Unstable

Load depends on the lens you are using. Will you be using a battery grip on your D5k?

Got cheap ones that are around $30... see in Challenger, etc. Cheap ones are aluminium frame so not so sturdy. Very solid and sturdy ones are >$100+++.

But I"ve used cheap ones for night shoots.... for wide angle zoom lens, they are ok lah. For heavy high zoom lens, you'd probably need something sturdier as cheap ones too shakey if used at high zoom ranges (>200mm).

Some cheaper types can hang weights on it to make it more stable. Try to get at least that type if budget is limited.

U cld try looking at the shop opp cathay at peninsula, they have a few good and cheap there, try looking for this china brand call ARIA, few of my frens had it, not bad of a tripod under 160, and it comes with a ball head too....

dont know lei, with kit or other lenses seem to back focus, haven't sent in yet, maybe within this week....

You can check out the Fancier Branded Tripod from Tagotech. I got one for myself and quite impressed with it. Not too heavy, rather sturdy fro d5k and most of all BALL HEAD!

It is a good tripod for the money. And if you are going to china soon, or have friends or relatives going there, you may want to consider buying it there. It is about half the price there.
