Like Cuba, in the sense that one can find a lot of old retro cars there as well. But mainly old 50s-60s Chevys and Fords in Cuba. Very cool though. Poland looks awesome.

King Jangiello Monument, now called the Grunwald monument. Not really sure what the Battle of Grunwald is about, but this is what Wikipedia says:

The Battle of Grunwald (or 1st Battle of Tannenberg) took place on July 15, 1410 with the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania ranged against the Knights of the Teutonic Order, led by the Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen. It was the decisive engagement in the Polish-Lithuanian-Teutonic War (1409-1411) and one of the greatest battles of medieval Europe. The battle saw the Monastic State of the Teutonic Knights decisively defeated — their order never recovered its former power. The few eyewitness accounts are contradictory. It took place near several smaller villages, and different names in various languages are attributed to it.

I did not see it, I felt it!! My friend's friend is a French man and he played host for a day during our visit and he drove us around. Nice experience.:bsmilie::thumbsup:

i am not sure, but their minor roads are really, really small.. like one lane on each side.. so i guess they have to resort to this. it is all very interesting though.

have not been to france, so cannot see what lastboltnut mentioned.. it's relatively easy to get to so i have been putting it off :bsmilie:

Oh...But this way of parking seems to exert too much compression on the suspension on the side that is resting on the road compared to those on the pathway. Spoil the car leh...

Wah lau, you easy to get to from London ma.

We also easy to get to, get the plastic globe and use 1 toe to step on it lor.:bsmilie:

u didnt move the blue pail .... but ... did u move the cone here ....:bsmilie:

nah, i hardly move things in my pictures.. :) why bother, when i can move myself? :bsmilie:

This is Rynek Glowny, 200m by 200m - supposedly the largest in Poland and in all of Europe. The medieval market square sits in the middle of the Old Town square, and houses many interesting stuff. Many baskers gather around the Old Town square area, and the Glowny is regularly used as a venue for open-air concerts and ceremonies. All sides of the town square are lined with restaurants, bars, shops and restaurants.

The horses that pepper the area are used to draw tourists around the place.. A bit corny, I guess.

Little boy resting in the shade of St Mary's Church around the town square/Glowny area. He was engrossed looking at some performers playing the accordian to his left.. So I stood there until he realised I was there and took a quick snap before walking away.

This one is massively cropped.

Nice travel shots, night86mare!:D

Really love to go to Poland in the recent future. I was in Germany for more than half a year for attachment a few years back and I did not even really pop by Poland and Czech.

Your pics really make me very 'gian' to go back again...:embrass:

Looking forward to your future europe pics...;p

hi hermes129,

thanks a lot for the kind comments. yes, you should, for one thing it is relatively cheap, as far as europe gets.. definitely not as cheap as certain other places, at least krakow/warsaw because they are touristy areas.. but still relatively affordable, i found. could get by on 30 pounds a day comfortably.. whereas in copenhagen was dying even with 40 pounds or so a day.

i want to go to a lot of places actually, i had a friend who has been solo backpacking it out there for quite a while, and i met up with him to join him for a bit throughout this leg of his crazy eurobackpack spree.. from what i hear, budapest is a must go.. personally i also want to go to greece and see the beautiful color as well, barcelona too. so much to go to, so little time and money.

cheers!

hi license2snap,

thanks! if you need help, please feel free to ask then.. if i am back in sg maybe i can pass you some stuff then. i think you will find it very easy to get around krakow and warsaw though, they are quite tourist friendly with good free maps around the place. :)

St Mary's Church in the Town Square area. The original church built in the 1200s, got destroyed during some wars, and this one here is 15th century. It is not hard to notice that the two towers are of disparate heights, and according to legend this is the result between two architect brothers commissioned to build one tower and trying to outdo each other. The competition was reputed to have ended with one knifing the other to death and then killing himself.

Fact is though, the lower tower is built to hold the church bells, and the other is a city watchtower. :)
