N go bk to d boring thread comments? LOL

I had to try this . . . shot the CV 15mm f/4.5 wide open in the worst possible light on my NEX-7. The sun is just out of the frame on the upper right side, and I guess that's why the magenta casting is mostly one-sided on the left. While there's some relief in the casting, the more noticeable improvement is in corner sharpness. I'll do more shots later in the day once I get outdoors; but first glance says that Sony really did a good job on this FW update. The residual color cast is easy to correct in PP, now even in LR; while unsharp corners can't be fixed. By improving the latter, Sony augmented the versatility of the 7.

The image below is corrected for vignetting only, so that it doesn't compound the color casting.

Ok, now back to your usual OT post-flooding useless babble . . . :what:

The purple cast is very evident bro looks like I wont be using NEX7 for landscapes...

Can we report to Sony and asked for a fix?

Look at d new firmware. As if they can do something abt it. It's basically a design flaw.

Bear in mind, bro, that I was trying to make it as bad as possible, shooting wide open against the sun, and using a lens that's just a tad wider than the widest currently available native e-mount lens. I'll suspend final judgment until I see what it does stopped down in lighting that's a bit more normal. Again, from my point of view the apparent improvement in corner sharpness is reason enough to be happy with the update.

later Sony pull an Apple (Apple Offers An Official Explanation For The iPhone 5 Camera’s Purple Flaring Problem | TechCrunch).
“Moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect.” :bsmilie:

The purple cast seems to be Sony's new signature feature. :P What about the new NEX-5R and NEX-6?

NEX 5R/6 is 16MP..same as NEX 5N right? might not have the same issue as NEX 7. I see those pic taken with wide angle MF lens on 5N .. wah lanz eh..

Nope, 5R and 6 got a new sensor with PDAF. At least Sony clams that, might be just a new micro lens array and a software solution...

Such a simple solution...

my sigma 19mm not really good for landscape even with hood find the photos wash-out :-( hmmm maybe if I could get a good price 2nd hand VC 12mm I'll try to see how bad it is :-) or if I could get LA-EA2 coudl use my Tokina 11-16 see how it is :-)

hmmm purple haze could be sensor issue or maybe it's the light reflecting from the side wall? notice the purple haze only mostly on the sides. Maybe the wall finish doesnt absorb the light properly :-( try comparing NEX mount without the lens with other system....
