had to try this . . . shot the CV 15mm f/4.5 wide open in the worst possible light on my NEX-7. The sun is just out of the frame on the upper right side, and I guess that's why the magenta casting is mostly one-sided on the left. While there's some relief in the casting, the more noticeable improvement is in corner sharpness. I'll do more shots later in the day once I get outdoors; but first glance says that Sony really did a good job on this FW update. The residual color cast is easy to correct in PP, now even in LR; while unsharp corners can't be fixed. By improving the latter, Sony augmented the versatility of the 7.
The image below is corrected for vignetting only, so that it doesn't compound the color casting.
