New camera: K-x is coming!

I think the real problem comes when you need to sell the camera a few years down the road. You like pink doesnt mean everyone likes pink...

Surprisingly I love colorful cameras. My walkabout compact is red.

I am preparing to get one but I am not sure what color (different between thinking and deciding). Red looks good but too common later. Deep Blue (panny has it). While the dark colors, including red, white will fit black lens but I doubt I will go too deep into Pentax (maybe 1+1 lens for candid).

Yellow perhaps. :)

Spoken like a true Canon user that you are... so condescending...

I suggest just picking your 2 fav focal lenghts from the following and forgetting about zooms. Nothing wrong with the zooms, but for travelling* even pentax's smaller 2.8 zooms are too painful. I would personally pick three, but 2 is cheaper :p (and I currently have only 1).

15/4
21/3.2
31/1.8
35/2.8 macro
40/2.8
43/1.8
70/2.4
77/1.8

*assuming you're not travelling specifically to take photos and don't like workouts while on holiday.

no love for the FA35 and FA50? ;)

I demand EMJAY come in and give some feedback!

Well.

Personally no :p I do own the 50, but I dont' use it much - I find it too soft at 1.4* and because using the speed is the main draw for me, it tends to languish. The 35 maybe, but i'd be tempted to just get the 43/1.8 instead for the metal build if I wanted the speed. Alternatively the 35 macro is a lovely lens which I really like using ;) )

*It might also be that I misfocus too much with it, but it's hard to think what else I can do to get critical focus more often, since I generally already use specific focus points and don't recompose, and in focus tests it works well enough.

Will take your suggestion into consideration. Thanks

Oh, for the rest, perhaps the transformer character can help you pick the choice of camera color.

Red, Red, Red. I'm not really a red person but this one's really pulling me off my no body new body for the next 3 years... :(

43 f1.9 lah. :)

I have it, but it's super soft at f1.9 to around 2.8-ish, and super sharp from f4 onwards.

So with the 43, don't get it if you want speed and sharpness at large apertures.. the FA50 will be sharper wide.

That's one quirk I couldn't get over. As much as I like my portraits soft, I prefer it to be sharp initially for further PP. *Goes back to fiddling with the M50/1.7* ;p

If you want it fast and sharp, get the 50/1.7, or Voigtlander 58/1.4, or the 50/1.2 ;)

The red body would pair well with the Pentax polo-T. ;)

Wouldn't mind the white or green colour scheme either...

Ah, no wonder you let it go.

I love the lens despite this. All my other lenses are too sharp, maybe. (If there's a thing as overly sharp lenses. :P)
