metering cui nia, no problem 1... anyway u student mah... mind M, body cui...

me is if money can give me a peace of mind, then i just pay and treat it like its in perfect condition...

hmmm......... i think i will go double check. cos my 7D seems to be overexposing pics by about half-stop lately. i always have to turn the knob to -0.5 to get the perfect pic. kk. thanks for informing.:) nitez!

Umm.. what is M or L or grid? I'm interested to get a manual focus screen for my 5D too cos I find manual focusing with the original focusing screen to be quite hard. The hoada one don't seem to be highly recomended. Could someone help to explain to this newbie? Thanks.

Saw this thread in dyxum on split focusing screen, seem to be cheaper (US$30 +postage) than Haoda one, anybody keen on sharing shipping to get this?

Some review on Haoda's split screen.

I'm interested. Hope they have solved the focusing misalignment with AF though. Even then think should be able to compensate for it. When would you like to order?

Some pentax people has bought it and try
unbranded split screen (china)

Thinking of ordering it next week, anyone else interested beside blueayz?

Me still interested. ;) The Pentax forummers said it'll cost less than $50 (w postage) right. Tell me how much it'll cost and I'll pass you the cash k. Do tell when u making the order. Thanks.

dun keep telling ppl its easy, u are feeding them with the wrong information...

for M screen there is a calibration to do... u guys better note this, else u get wacky exposure.

eh. i checked mine already. exposure nothing wrong. sent an email to sony. they say no calibration needed one. have you tried installing the M screen b4 yourself? you seem to be extremely sure about getting "wacky" exposure without calibration. when over here, everything is going fine.

hmmm........weird. i tried using the haoda focusing screen, but in that case, exposure does get very wacky. it keeps overexposing by 1-1.5 stops. but other than the split prism in the center, i dun see how it differs from the minolta m screen. any ideas?

really? then how come the service manual from minolta also say need to calibrate?

oh well, u guys can continue installing the M screen... not my camera anyway.

i called SSC earlier, spoke to none other than Mr Seah himself. for the M screen you NEED to send it in for calibration, as exposure is metered off the viewfinder according to him, so if you have light loss because of the M screen, you need to recalibrate otw your pics will come under exposed. the cheapo alternative is to compensate that permanently on your cam. i'd rather pay the $80 fee to have them install and calibrate the $4 screen.. less headache... unless someone knows how to calibrate and has the tools to do so...

however he told me the screen has NO split centre (unlike the haoda version i suppose) and most ppl can't tell the diff... so can anyone tell me why and how this is useful for manual focusing??

dang. weird. now i'm worried. btw, the pics should appear overexposed since the M screen takes away light. the M screen allows a greater difference between being out of focus and being in-focused, so it is clearer to see when you are focused.

anyone here installed the m screen yourself? i seriously cant spot any exposure errors in my photos.

edit: dunno if you can calibrate yourself. there's an adjustment program for 7D, but i dun dare to play around with it cos i cant find the repair manual. not sure if the program can change the exposure.

you can read here. http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/forum_posts.asp?TID=10405

seems like there is a function to change AE. but just becareful, i dun really dare to fiddle too much into the program. wonder if anyone here can share their repair manual. is it legal? would help greatly in the usage of this program.

Finally ordered for myself and blueayz, price seem to increase to around $62 (including postage).

Not that difficult to put the screen on, though only one side will work, the other side will sure be OOF. find it a bit hard to adjust the prism circle area to the centre as the size of the screen is not 100% fix.

Used it for a few days, so far so good, quite easy to tell when the AF is wrong and refocus again. But still find it hard to use on f/1.4 or f/1.2 lens for manual focus, as the DOV is really too thin, probably need more practice to get use to it.

Hasn't try on slow lens yet, so won't know how's the effect.
