Yeah, that bloody CEO is a MY. That's where the problem is...
Eh , let's keep the SG vs MH stuff out of this thread la.
The frequency of the beacon signal is well defined, all it needs is a filter to cut off the frequencies of the noise. Why do they use handheld device from a rubber dinghy ?
The big ship engine produce lots of noise and make it difficult to hear the weak signal from black box.
They actually have another pinger on board... so they could be picking up their own signals..I am shocked that the Chinese are using a handheld device from a rubber dinghy compared to the high-tech towed devices by the ang-mohs.

A spare pinger on the boat might have sent the signal.
In video of the Haixun 01, it appears the Chinese had a spare pinger in the boat.
Anish Patel, president of pinger manufacturer Dukane Seacom, says it is not recommended to have a pinger near the area where you are trying to listen.
This is such a biased world! The chinese heard it first and now their credit is being washed down by the angmohs, uttering nonsense such as "they hv another pinger onboard". Shxx! And the Oz is shining in limelight/newspaper headlines that they heard the "most promising lead"?! @#*?!*^#@
And of course the interesting observation that the Chinese team reported back to the authorities in a China, not the search party heads (Malaysia).
