Hi All,
I retested the lens again in another shop, did the same test during my testing in the first shop.
This time i manage to get sharp image now, tested in F1.8, F2.8 and F4.0 , all sharp.
The sharpness is good enough, at centre sharpness, i really cannot complain at all.
Focusing speed is at another level compare to 20. I guess the first shop i tested is a lemon copy.
Those who wants to buy this lens, i strongly suggest you test the lens before purchase.
The sleek and classy look also contribute to the decision for me to open my wallet at the counter.
I am now a new owner of 17 F1.8 .![]()

I tried the lens yesterday in one of the local shop but left without buying.
As i did not bring any camera, i borrow their OMD for testing.
tested on close up object, seems ok, looks sharp too.
tested again on a object 3m away, it seems very soft, try at f1.8, f2.8 and f5.6
All test with decent shutter speed, i only can remember at F1.8, shutter speed was around 1/100.
I told the shop staff that it is soft, they took the camera retake the object, result is the same.
They finally reset the camera to default setting, retry again, still soft.
maybe those who have the lens can try to take a pic at 3 metre away.
Hi bro, can post any sample shots of this softness issue?
Thanks![]()
Congrats! This lens has been on my E-M5 ever since I bought it. Just added a B+W PL filter to it. Will post some shots soon.
the softness which i encountered was taken using the shop camera.
Hence no pics on my side. I was also using their memory card too.
Generally, the lens is a keeper after owning for 1 day. Go for it.
The only complain is champgne color instead of silver, but still very close to silver.
How i wish if the color is the same as 45mm F1.8
i als looking for a filter, any idea which shop sell the B+W Silver UV filter? Price?
milez said:I bought my B+W PL filter from Cathay Photo. I think B+W XS Pro UV filter cost about $76. The F Pro is about $50. Not sure about silver UV filters.
The black PL one is 30% cheaper than the silver one.

Tried out at the shop and was awed by the AF speed and the amount of detail that this baby could capture.
had thought the silver wouldn't match my black camera body but it turned out (to me), cool and nice !
Got it for $617 (cash), with a B+W filter at $59. If interested to know who to look for, can PM me.
for now, just gonna be enjoying this lens!
Sure think soThink $600 maybe even possible? though it'd be almost $150 off the RRP.
a 100% crop [ hope i did this correctly?]
