I am still kind of curious as to what this lens does that the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 can't do??? and the Pany is a lot cheaper...:dunno: Anyway my Panys work just fine on my Oly bodies...

Panny is slow for a start. But I am curious too how would the lens perform compare to Panny other than the AF speed. Size wise, Panny still has an edge.

I have both the Panny 20 mm and the Oly 17/1.8. The Panny is noticeably slower in focusing speed comparing to the Oly and its much noisier, which ended up in me selling the Panny later since I realized i preferred the Oly more. Sharpness wise, both are good unless u r into extreme pixel peeping.
I am just going to keep the P20/1.7...I have never had a problem with it ...its plenty sharp, and I do not shoot movies in AF (I am old school and still use follow focus manually)...Anyway my Canons and GoPro do most of my video so its a non issue...Saves me money for other gear that I may need.. Like a Blackmagic cinecamera... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...am26kmft_Blackmagic_Design_Cinema_Camera.html ... he he..
Got this lens last week, so far I've been really happy with it. Just to check is it normal for the focus ring to be able to turn past infinity and beyond?

This is the first time I have my hands on a lens with scale focus, should would you mind telling me if this is normal?
I'm also kinda confused with how the scale focusing works. I've been reading up on hyperfocal distance, and watching videos on zone focusing.
Correct me if i'm wrong. If I set my camera to f11, turn and align it to 3m anything 3m away will be in focus? Is that how zone focusing works?
What is the red marking between the f5.6s for? How can I set for example to have 3m to infinity at f11 to be in focus?
