[ Lens ] First review of Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8 OIS

Congrats u'll love the lens. And 1072 seriously a good price ; think if willing to wait a month or two we will starts seeing <1000 prices popping up.

Got mine at 1176 from HKG last month and feelings of hooting a good deal already evaporating fast haha. Is Pana still selling this for ~$16xx plus ?

Limited international warranty. Basically if u buy from Malaysia or USA or Japan. No warranty. Hk generally not (although zan82 did clarify before that certain model designations do have some warranty. Post was in dec 2011. Do a search. )

The $1176 price was at New Sankyo at Hotel Holiday Inn at TST area. Quite easy to find.

If u can afford the time, try Sim City at Mong Kok area. Believe prices there should be even better. Better read around more online for user reviews as there'r many camera shops in Sim City and i heard some may have not so good service standards.

lastly, if you want a fuss free buying episode, i'd suggest the larger electronic chains u can find anywhere on MongKok (Fortress is one). Prices are more expensive , around $1300-$1400 but they've a reputation to upkeep and its still considerably cheaper than the SG prices.

Does it meant that the lens bought in HKG, the warranty is not valid in Singapore?
If anything wrong with the lens, have to bring back to HKG?

Often their prices are better than MK when I checked, also there is additional discount items buying multiple items.

Quite friendly but v busy they seem to do a high turnover which explains their prices.

Can try to quote price.hk for negotiation.

I will assume unlike Oly , Pana will not honor international warranty even though the guy at New Sankyo n a few others in Mongkok area told me there is. If there is doubt, I will prefer to doubt than assume.

Saving $500++ from SG prices 'and plus how durable Pana lens are, I'm at peace even if there is no warranty.

The same idea did cross my mind but I kept the 20mm in the end. There r still days where I appreciate its compact size and F1.7

Just got 12-35mm from Amazon Japan today. Quite happier with the price of SGD$1028(including delivery), much cheaper than local shops selling at $15xx-$16xx. Only downside is no warranty locally except Japan. But still save more than $500++.;p;p

I do know of pple who wouldn't mind paying more for this peace of mind. For me , I mind paying more
