K-30 ... K-r Replacment?

Pentax is selling the K-5 also with the 40mm XS as a bundle even though the lens isn't weather sealed.

there is no WR version of the 40mm XS. my point is that since the 18-55mm has a WR version and for amazon K-5 they bundle it with 18-55 WR so i'm just surprised at amazon choice for the K30 at this point in time.

i'm think when it comes to singapore, local shops here will most prob bundle the k-30 with 18-55 WR

Maybe this isn't a K-r replacement, and going by the name, is instead a K20D replacement? Then Pentax might have 3 DSLR camera silos - entry, mid and high end

Seems like they hired automotive designer this time round, instead of an industrial designer...

Isn't an automotive designer an industrial designer? ;-)

Looks like it came from car aftermarket parts designer. you know who does side skirts hood scoops and airdams... :)

Wait no K-Z multi colour thingy?

Not in Europe anyway where the leaked photos come from (France and UK). Might be different in Japan again.

- Full HD video
- WR body
- 3 inch LCD
- 4 fps max shooting speed
- 2 dial wheels
- Use both Li-ion and AA battery

In Pounds it's always expensive like everything on that island.

Personally, I think it will be about $900 for the body. (with K-01 at close to $700 body only)
UK prices are crazy.
Their camera stuff are like ours, but replace the SGD in front with GBP.

That's rubber right?

Wonder what the weight savings are like.. Especially if it retains almost everything except for the magnesium alloy body.. :P

That said, wonder what the K5 replacement is like as well.

Very obvious right.
K-01 is a Lego (bumblebee)
K30 is a metallic blue decepticon
KMD is a big red Optimus Prime

:D

I still waiting for my kx to kick the bucket too. Traveled so many places with my kx still giving me amazing photos

Will hold kx till FF next year

Yes, you can only buy things on offer.. When I was in London I bought only my Tamron 70-300 there because Jessops was having a sale. Got it for like 60 pounds (when the exchagne rate had dropped to something like 1:2.5ish). :bsmilie:

The only exception that is cheaper there is Billingham.

This certainly looks very interesting. I am looking for another and currently looking at the K-5 and EM5. Maybe I should hold off until this K-30 is officially announced.

So similar to K-5... i wonder why they bother with a new model... might as well price the current k-5 to k-r so simple... save on R&D...
business decision can be so funny...:bsmilie:
i would have jump straight to 24MP with the K-30 just to compete with D3200 in the marketing side... ya most ppl dun need higher MP but most ppl also dunno that...:bsmilie:

k-5 replacement probably with the new 24MP sensor... guess needs a bigger HD... lucky im in a sabbatical from photography...:bsmilie:

OMG I think this is gonna be really really good...

Potential breakthrough into the market

I guess the K-30 will be cheaper to manufacture.

Kx can 'donate' off at $250-$300 in BnS.
I'm sure there are takers if the price is right.
Investment in it already written off in the books liao. :D

Who knows, you may create a new Pentaxian by selling it off cheap.

Compared to K5, K30 will be lighter and smaller, can use AA batteries (w/ adapter), got white and blue colors, will be quite a bit cheaper (a few months after the initial launch). These are all selling points I guess.

K30 has:
same sensor and IQ as K5 (yet to be verified)
same viewfinder (pentaprism w/ 100% coverage and .92 magnification
same dual e-dials
same weather sealed body

These are step-ups from K200D or Kr. Plus newer AF module and newer (K-01's) image engine, I won't be surprised it'd perform slightly better than K5 in some aspects.
