Haven't put in enough shutter count leh.. Maybe will try to find a buyer for the D200. ;p The body with the highest shutter count now is still the D70s. ;p

anyway, D2X will be very hard to sell unless u price it at S$3k. and D2Xs around S$4k, maybe, still can attract 1 or 2 bids? hehehe

D200 shud b ok at S$1.7k thereabouts.;p

Hehehe... seriously, if the D300 performs (and there is no reason to not expect it to) - personally don't think anyone would buy a used D2X/D2Xs for any more than the cost of a new D300 - doesn't matter how much they cost before, if you can get a brand new (with warranty) D300 (which is supposed to be the state of the art for DX cameras) at S$2.7k, well I wouldn't get a used D2X/D2Xs for anything above S$2.5k, if that, even... sorry D2X/D2Xs users, but that's how I see it.

Oh and BTW, this is the Nikon 90th Anniversary video

For the 1st few parts, it depicts Nikon cameras in the space and in extreme environments, blah blah.

One of the better lines, "In the frontlines, it's a Nikon". (approximately, jap getting rusty)

After those, it's the timeline history of some Nikkors and Nikon bodies.

something like this ...

I yearned to see the Earth,
with that yearning it photographed outer space.
The foremost in camera technology,
Nikon has always been there.

I yearn to see the unknown,
with that yearning it pushed the limits.
The foremost in discovery,
Nikon has always been there.

I yearn to capture the moment that moves the heart,
with that yearning it captured the spirit of humanity.
I yearn to leave behind moments that changed history for the future,
with that yearning it captured times of revolution.
The foremost in reportage,
Nikon has always been there.

Ever yearning for better mechanics;
Ever yearning for faster processing speed;
Ever yearning for more details;
Ever yearning for greater ability to express.

With these yearnings, newer technology endlessly arises.

1959 saw the birth of Nikon's first SLR.

For nearly 50 years since then, countless cameras have been developed.

Focusing on advancement in image making,
a new image making system EXPEED is created.

Always made to excite the future is Nikon's technology.

Always providing all with the necessary support,
Nikon continues to be the professional in imaging technology.

In many countries all over the world,
in the midst of someone's joy,
beside someone's delight,
there's always a Nikon.

Where are the limits photographs can bring our eyes to?
How much can images move our hearts?
Where are the limits of the possibilities of the camera?

2007, Nikon rediscovers all the joy in the past 90 years;
from past to present, from present to future, Nikon continues to evolve.

Answering expectations. Surpassing expectations. ( <- in reverse order in Japanese, I thought reading it this way sounds better :sweatsm:)

*goose bumps come out again :sweatsm:wonder which agency did this ad, quite well done :thumbsup:*

Cool, thanks for the great translation Eikin. :thumbsup: quite emotional indeed :)

"The D300 does not replace the D200, which will continue to be manufactured and sold, presumably at a lower price going forward...."

Is it true?

Well, only time will tell, but my opinion is that the D2x/s will fall in price in the used market, but still not down to the D300 level, as you wrote. When we looked at what happened to the D1x compared with the other models like D100, D70 or even D200 (which clearly surpassed the D1x in many areas), we found that the D1x did hold it's value for quite a while.

Being a true pro body has it's advantages, and strong pro following, so I reckon the price of a good condition used D2x/s should hover between $3k-4k at least for the next 12 mths after D300 is launched. If anyone wants to sell me a D2xs for $3k, I will grab straightaway, ie, if I have the money. ;)

Well, like I said, only time will tell. :)

Wah D2Xs at 2.8k...:sweat:amazing price..but i think there are some areas where the D300 outperform the D2Xs..

Sure, the market will decide what it wants to pay... I was speaking more from a personal capacity - and in my personal opinion, I wouldn't consider a used D2Xs unless it was at S$2k (but that's just me, and quite rightly, others have different priorities/situations/opnions)

But I do think people should think less of the "pro body"/"non pro body" divide, and look at the feature sets and the final results you get in your personal situation.

Hi, sure I agree with your rationale really. It wouldn't make sense to get the D2Xs if the fact that it's a pro body holds no value to me, only the features do. And, if you compare purely features, or even pic quality, the D300 will clearly be the winner. (I think, cos we havent actually seen any images from the D300 yet.)
