Hehehe... seriously, if the D300 performs (and there is no reason to not expect it to) - personally don't think anyone would buy a used D2X/D2Xs for any more than the cost of a new D300 - doesn't matter how much they cost before, if you can get a brand new (with warranty) D300 (which is supposed to be the state of the art for DX cameras) at S$2.7k, well I wouldn't get a used D2X/D2Xs for anything above S$2.5k, if that, even... sorry D2X/D2Xs users, but that's how I see it.

Well, only time will tell, but my opinion is that the D2x/s will fall in price in the used market, but still not down to the D300 level, as you wrote. When we looked at what happened to the D1x compared with the other models like D100, D70 or even D200 (which clearly surpassed the D1x in many areas), we found that the D1x did hold it's value for quite a while.
Being a true pro body has it's advantages, and strong pro following, so I reckon the price of a good condition used D2x/s should hover between $3k-4k at least for the next 12 mths after D300 is launched. If anyone wants to sell me a D2xs for $3k, I will grab straightaway, ie, if I have the money.

Sure, the market will decide what it wants to pay... I was speaking more from a personal capacity - and in my personal opinion, I wouldn't consider a used D2Xs unless it was at S$2k (but that's just me, and quite rightly, others have different priorities/situations/opnions)
But I do think people should think less of the "pro body"/"non pro body" divide, and look at the feature sets and the final results you get in your personal situation.

Hi, sure I agree with your rationale really. It wouldn't make sense to get the D2Xs if the fact that it's a pro body holds no value to me, only the features do. And, if you compare purely features, or even pic quality, the D300 will clearly be the winner. (I think, cos we havent actually seen any images from the D300 yet.)
