The Olympus PEN E-P1 will be available at all major retailers and dealers in July 2009. Products are available in two colours: Black/Silver & White.
- S$1,298 – standard lens kit (M. ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-42mm f3.5-5.6)
- S$1,488 – pancake lens kit (M. ZUIKO DIGITAL 17mm f2.8 + Hotshoe Optical Viewfinder)
- S$1,598 – twin lens kit (M. ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 and M. ZUIKO DIGITAL 17mm f2.8)

The above are recommended retail prices. Expect street prices to be 10-15% cheaper.

i think i can live with any shitty lcd screen after living through the sigma dp1's screen... n tat low light live view... painful... might as well don't look...

if they can make it a range finder, tat'll be perfect man.. haha... then can use my M mount lens on this baby...

The M-Mount to micro Four Thirds adapter is already out my friend... I cannot remember where but it is already available. In the worse case scenario, 4/3 adapter + M-mount 4/3 adapter... but I remember the Leica R and M mounts were the first to be supported on the micro Four Thirds platform.

does anyone roughly know how long it takes the e-p1 to save a raw file to the memory card? cause the dp1's 5sec wait is a killer....

RAW + jpg = instant on a Class 6 SDHC card.

They were biased against Olympus in the past, so it seems while everyone else has a production (firmware 1.0) camera and was invited to the Berlin launch party while the "high and mighty" DPR got a pre-production model. :bsmilie:

The E-P1 is not a compact; it has the electronics of a DSLR so memory card transfer speeds are as quick. It accepts Class 4 to 6 SDHC cards.

Don't bother with Class 4, bro. Really. It does make a difference.

I saw some images showing the leather case (not sure if it is leather, just guessing) will it be inlcuded? got pre-order list? I want Silver with 17mm, can Panasonic G1 kit lens AF with this? I wonder how in-body IS and Panasonic Lens IS will work together, produce much better stabilty or cancel out each other making it worse.

Anyone tried that?

With Panasonic lenses, the Mega OIS is disabled when used on an Olympus body. The Olympus IS takes over.

Factory screen protector still on the screen... ha ha ha... no tube can fit into the body as I know, it is quite "packed" as it is... thanks for pointing this out... :bsmilie:

AF is around the same speed as G1? Now we're talking. Looks like a lot of ppl are waiting for this.

I felt the AF speed is the same with the 17mm lens. I didn't bother with the 14-42mm kit lens... was too much fun playing with the 17mm and E-P1. Being able to play with DOF while recording video was simply... TOO MUCH FUN! :bsmilie:

wah,i go work come back again so many updates,I wanna attend Microcosm's lesson,lucky i don't have a mistress of finance to seek approval from,would be great to have the EVF attachment,would really make my day to get the adaptor only and use my 50-200 instead for tele shots,

Honestly, when the lesson is done, you will laugh at the thought of having a need for EVF... because you have a massive EVF already... (aka the screen)... This screen is probably the most advanced version Olympus ever implemented on their cameras. See to believe.

Just occurred to me... both models shall now be nicknamed :

E-P1(S) Steel for the silver model.
E-P1(C) Ceramic for the while model.

That is how they felt in my hands... so light and yet so solidly built.
