The wide angle and telephoto zooms will be seen in 2010

Any hints or indications on whether they will be fixed or variable aperture? Hopefully the lens road map will be released soon to see what is in stall for the M4/3.

I had never gotten this excited about a camera, not even when I got my D300. The size and style are really tempting me but I am wondering, without an OVF, will the LCD be a pain to view in daylight? Also, what are the lens choices I have to cover the 24-105 focal range and preferably with an aperture of f/2.8 on EP-1?

Called CP, TK and OP and no one has an idea when they will get it...

i think to date,no lens in the micro four thirds,developed for micro four thirds cover the range of 24-105 with aperture of f2.8,cloesy would probably be 12-60 with adaptor,but manual focus only,or is there autofocus?I have no idea about that since i haven't touch the camera yet ;p

aiya.. just realise that the 17mm lens doesn't have a focusing scale... :(
cannot MF first, then pull up, compose n shoot...
need to take out marker n start drawing lines....

or anyone has any idea if in MF mode, when turning the mf ring, the screen will update with the focus distance? at least still can roughly gauge distance then whip out cam n snap...

Is there a lens that cover 24-105mm f2.8? the closest I know is canon 24-105mm f4.

From what I know, there are these lens available or coming

7-14mm f/4
17mm f2.8
20mm f1.7
25mm f1.4
14-45mm f3.5-5.6
14-140mm HD
45-200mm f4-5.6

mm... somehow I get the feeling that there are way to many WA/normal primes. 17mm, 20mm and 25mm...

where is the teleprime? I really hope someone is making a wide aperture teleprime. The lack of such a lens could mean that the AF is tough to do well.... so nobody has done it yet.

Where did that list of lenses come from?

Hi all, Olympus has IS body, Panasonic has IS lens.
I think both can't work together. But most lenses can
switch off IS so IS body works alone.

The review from fourthirds-user.com indicates that the E-P1 is able to auto-focus with all existing four-third lenses including the 12-60mm. ;)

The latest studio, parameter controlled samples from imaging resource basically cleared most of my doubts about the image quality of the E-P1.

Apparently, the difference in noise level as previously discussed is due to fact that NR-OFF mode and NR-STD mode yields very different level of noise. The NR-OFF mode basically let all the luminance noise through and make the results very film like. The NR-STD mode makes the noise level quite comparable to conventional dSLR. This is great!

http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/EP1/FULLRES/EP1hSLI0800_NR_STD.HTM

The NR-OFF mode retains a lot more details!

Currently, I think the image quality of the E-P1 could potentially be better than the GH1.

In the following samples, the GH1's color looked dark and muddled and the color looks a little yucky even though in certain parts (like the red cloth), it seem to contain a little more details. The E-P1's color is bright and generally very pleasant.

Lowest NR Mode:

GH1 = http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/DMCGH1/FULLRES/DMCGH1hSLI0800_NR1.HTM

EP1 = http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/EP1/FULLRES/EP1hSLI0800_NR_OFF.HTM

STD NR Mode:

GH1 = http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/EP1/FULLRES/EP1hSLI0800_NR_STD.HTM

EP1 = http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/EP1/FULLRES/EP1hSLI0800_NR_STD.HTM

Even at 1600, the results of the E-P1 is still quite respectable. As far as I am concerned, anything above 1600 is not worth analyzing.

This little camera is beginning to look better by the day. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

For a 17mm wide lens, the focus to infinity should be very forgiving. I remember when shooting landscape with 28mm in film, I just set it manual focus to infinity and just adjust the aperture or shutter speed. Unless you are talking about near distance, then just use set to AF mode and let it focus for you.

Should be ok I guess.

These are plentiful... I will reuse my Nikkor lenses...

Slap on the m43-Nikon adapter. Macro, portraits what have you will fit into this camera provided you got the adapter.

does the adaptor have AF? I am not sure how good u can MF on the low res LCD... unless they have a 10x mag mode, but that will make it soo slow and unwieldy... I have the nikkor afs 50mm f1.4. It will be great if there is a working adaptor for it.

still I think it is worth it just for the 17mm. and I thought the design looks REALLY REALLY good.

No AF, but Manual focus isn't difficult at all especailly when the camera zoom in magnifies on the point of focus. Worked great with G1 and I can guess it will be the same for E-P1.

That brings to mind a question I wanted to ask, anyone knows what will be on the higher end model? due to release year end was it? does it have OVF/EVF? Swivel LCD?

thanks,i think applies to lenses that are capable of CDAF t,12-60 should be,even if can't,get the 14-54 MKII,28-108mm equivilent with AF,covers the distance of not the 24 but the 105 part, I could be wrong though,have to wait for hands on to really understand it fully

yup thanks. i know there are a few M mount to m4/3 adapters. just dunno if there are any diff between the brands...
voitlander has one but $200+
there's a no brand oem one $100+
just wondeirng if the oem one is good enough...

Usually review sites from the internet will give you a good gauge.

Else when all fails, someone has to be the guinea pig.

First week of July. They will be shipped to the retailers who have placed orders yesterday.

There will be autofocus with regular Zuiko Digital lenses through the adapter. That is what that blew me away.
