do they have a store front?
I think they are selling grey sets. Their canon stuff seems more expensive than the local sets you can get in funan. Their tamron stuff is worse when you consider that local set at funan is not only cheaper, but come with extra 2 years warranty from JEL.
this shop say if u buy a canon lens, is the warranty from canon or from the shop itself...
seems like not local sets leh... the lenses..
anyone know?
Please note that to claim international warranty, you need to produce a proof of purchase from an authorized dealer. If the receipt provided is not from an authorized dealer, Nikon or Canon has the right to refuse any warranty work.
before i never bother whether is grey set, and so far none of my lens or camera have problems, but now i am worried, recently bought a HTC phone from Sim Lim Sq, after checking few shops, the one with local warranty just $50 more, so i choose to pay abit more, 2mths of usage, the phone reboot by itself various time and finally reset itself into factory setting 3 times in a day...so i send by to HTC and they replaced the motherboard FOC, thank goodness i pay for warranty set...
yup i agree. i bought a lens in hong kong tin cheung that time, they sold the grey set only 200hkd cheaper than the international wty set so of course i paid more for the int'l wty.
however if it's a few hundred sgd, it's very tempting................ tough choice haha. that's why like i said above, it'll be great if anyone who has dealt with dd elect. in terms of warranty can share his experience with us.

Looking at the timing of responses, profile of "askers" and "answerers" .. This thread reeks heavily of viral marketing ...![]()
It really look to me there is some viral marketing here.
I wonder why people are still buying from local retailers like SLRR, TK, AP and CP if DD Electronics is cheap and grey set is as good. I don't think there is a queue outside DD Electronics store everyday??? I think one need to do it own research on buying grey set and make inform choice. I don't think anybody with the right frame of mind will buy retail and then benchmark their resale value again grey set price, B&S forum have been around along time, buyers are no fool.

if u checked through the post no body said that all the stuff they sell is cheaper than legit stuff but some of them is priced almost the same or a bit higher as used one on BnS section with the advantage of "new" + 12 months shop warranty, i don't think it's realy a problem for some people on getting a grey stuff as long as it work like it suppose to(it's not like their selling fake chinese stuff) and above all got warranty on it, so once again it depends on the person that decide to buy it, no point in bashing the store or grey stuff, they exist for a reason, to confuse the lot of you lol![]()
I am not associated with ddelec. and I found out about them only around 3 days or so ago.
First, parallel imported goods are equal to the directly imported goods in making and quality, no difference at all, both come from same factory, the accessories might be different though depending for which region it was made for. The difference is that parallel imports are distributed outside the authorized network; that is all. It also does not mean the goods are stolen. Problem is, however, the warranty, since the manufacturer/authorized dealer/authorized customer support will not recognize the item as covered under the manufactures warranty scheme in the country the parallel imported good was sold (but not intended to be sold in by the manufacturer). Here a shop warranty will come into play. I suppose that the shop owner will internally deal with the distributor he got the goods from as regards any warranty matters. That may be an advantage if e.g. the distributor does not have the means/facilities to repair the broken item and thus might just simply replace it with a new one. And in this context comes my question: has anyone here made some first hand experience with an RMA with this shop? How long did it take and was the item repaired or replaced?
Cheers.
