Looks like quite a few were playing with their new toy today! Here's another one testing the new speed king.

He says it's too sharp! Ha ha!

Cheers,

Here's one from a night shoot.

Cheers,

I agree with Master boochap-even the bokeh balls are so sharp.

would be interesting to try out this lens:)

I said for the price of this len, it will not go very wrong.

I'm taking orders for 58mm UVIR filters from popflash. If you do need one, please PM me before Tuesday.

cheers!

hi chiif do you have the lens in stock? If not, I presume we order through your website? How long is the wait? Cheers

for my own curiosity, i did a series of test shots with the following 50mm lenses:

Leica Noctilux-M v2
Voigtländer Noktonf1.1
Leica Summilux-M asph
Leica Summilux-M pre-asph v4 (latest pre-asph version, with built-in hood)
Zeiss ZM Planar

thinking that i might as well share it with others, i diligently uploaded the files batch by batch onto flickr. after uploading all the large jpegs (roughly 3-4mb each), which took up almost all my 100mb upload quota on my free flickr account, to my horror - they only display max 1024x689!!... for free accounts... *slaps forehead* but i think that the 1024x689 would already give you some appreciation of the subtle differences / similarities among these lenses.

pls, pls, pls do not ask me to e-mail you the original 3916x2634 files, and don't ask me to do a comparison with the canon0.95 or the hexanon1.2, etc. as i do not have access to those lenses.

but i hope that some of you might find it just a little useful or helpful...

Lens is still in stock...

a second set of test shots for those who are interested. this might be a little more interesting to see the sharpness and bokeh.

same lenses:
Leica Noctilux-M v2, Voigtländer Noktonf1.1, Leica Summilux-M asph, Leica Summilux-M pre-asph v4 (latest pre-asph version, with built-in hood), Zeiss ZM Planar

due to the max size limitations of the free account, i downsized to 1200x807 so that you can download slightly larger pics than 1024x689. this would be the last series of shots, as i've max out my free account upload quota for the month. pls excuse the "blueish" frames, as i did not adjust the wb after the -1 compensation, applied to all shots.

on my 24in iMac screen, wide open for both noctilux & nokton, I almost couldn't tell any difference at all...

The only very subtle difference is the noctilux is slightly brighter on the left side of the doll. Not sure whether it's due to it being f1 & versus the Nokton f1.1.

But I can tell the price difference... :bsmilie:

This lens is actually pretty well balanced on the RF body...

It's a giraffe not a doll! Is there a price tag??:bsmilie::bsmilie:

Just one word of caution...

Do not screw the filter onto the front of the lens hood. The filter will get stuck and it's placed too far off from the front lens element, hence will affect the image quality.

A customer came to me and said the lens was not sharp, until we nailed it down that he actually mounted the UVIR filter onto the front of the lens hood. As a result, when pixel peeping, the image wasn't as sharp as other copies.

Took out the filter and mounted it on the lens itself gave a 100% razor sharp image and he was a happy man again... :)

this set of test shots were done with the UV/IR mounted onto the hood.

didn't do a with hood vs without hood comparison... but mounted as described was still plenty sharp... without hood would have been lagi sharper?!?!!

Anyone try shooting with E6 on this f1.1?

Please post pictures to share..

Would like to see more pictures on film. :)

OK.. doing a very "bo-liao" (meaningless to those who don't understand the dialect word) comparison... Film vs Digital...

It's shouldn't be too difficult to differentiate which is which... One with Lucky SHD 200 and the other one with a M8.2

Taken almost at the same position. Both pix resize to 1280px and posted on flickr.

I guess it's personal preference... just wondering who still prefer film...
