They are 3 old uni professors about to retire.
They talked, talked and talked about Occupy Central for months and months.
The impatient students just went ahead and did it.
To many of them this is better than picnic.

The most i see on fb are people especially activists comparing HK situation to singapore and mocking/taking swipe at singaporeans for being brainwashed by social studies that protests are bad for economy and we should learn from them .

If they protest only now but not previously (before british - mainland handover), while both don't really offer democracy, does this mean HK people simply prefer one colonist over the other? ;p
Whatever it is, I'm sure this protest won't be the last one. More to come.
Careful now...... HK people generally hate to draw lessons from rival Singapore
I think the democracy cry is just an excuse or front for anti-Chonese issues and feelings .... Just that they don't have the infrastructure , self-sufficiency and/or guts to call it a pro-independence protest
I doubt if HKers know what to do with true democracy beyond lofty ideals even if u gave it to them.
IMHO hk'ers are very apolitical as long as their interests are protected

Anyway we have BIGGER worries ..... China just announced completion of a 2000m runway for military aircraft on Paracel Islands group ...
Attention should shift back to Vietnam n Philippines orotests

Whatever it is, we are.still alot better off than those hong kees.
Technically hong kong is still a colonised city, from british colony to chinese colony.
Of course they are so jealous of us. We have our own national anthem, can represent ourselves in international arena whether in government or sports. UN recognized us as a sovereign country. Our finance minister sits on the IMF committee. We have own government structure, own army and police, make our own policies and laws.
What does Hong Kong has?
I very much prefer we live our life.... and HKer live their life and end all this pointless comparing. We are not in their 'shoes'... they are not in ours. History, Location and Situation is totally difference for both of us, comparing which is 'better' is kind of pointless.
Each Country/State has their own advantage and/or disadvantage.... they have a closer relationship and is part the World next upcoming superpower (for better or worst :sweat
... while we might be overtaken by our neighbor countries if we continue to rest on our past laurels, achievement and glory.Best we keep working hard for our own betterment.... and let HKers settle their own affairs... :think:

We Singaporean accepts reasonable advice.
How can protest good for the country! People is unproductive, students become defiance and demand unreasonable requests. loss in revenue for the business, students miss lessons, unnecessary resources deploy to handle unproductive activities, loss in world standing e.g. bad reputation for the nation, loss in confidence for investor etc.....one more add relationship between parents and children......U may wish to add.. I think there are more!
Actually protests are good, for the right reasons
We won't have the modern USA, France, and other 1st world countries, without protests and even civil wars.

HK is part of China, no matter what. It was the opium war that caused China to lose HK to the British. A national disgrace at that point in time.
Now that HK is finally returned back to its mother aka China. The son started to KPKB.
HK is able to continue to prosper due to China. Look at how the mainlanders spend their money in HK, from jewelries, other luxury goods to properties. Most businesses in HK are dependent on China. Even the western powers have to give some faces to China given its economic power now.
Spoken to some Hong Kongers to hear their opinions on this crisis. They told me that it is a joke. Bloodly wasting of time.

A very vocal, passionate and well-organised body of student activists who are prepared to sleep on the streets, go hunger strike, hit with tear gas etc.
